It'll still take two days for the Philippines :D

Maybe not, while I cannot predict the flight schedule so far in advance. Right now there is a non stop from Los Angeles to Manila that takes 13 hours.
We will also be trying to get a group rate from Los Angeles but it is to far out now since airline only allow bookings 11 months.

The date changes as you cross over :D

I was looking at PAL as well, and we may do either LAX-MNL (14h 45m) or SFO-MNL (14h 25m), not sure yet - the SFO route, as of now, uses a 747 which I like a little better than the 777. The advantage of the LAX flight, as of now anyway, is a couple departure options (morning and night). Of course, that will depend on connection options to get to LAX or SFO.

The other option I looked at is Singapore Air, which is not a direct flight, but I have status & lots of miles with them. It's a question of how much will that status help me out vs more travel time.
