Your sac is about a cubic foot and a half if that psi was an al80. That'll give you a bottom time of about 10minutes if you had a full tank at 110ft and sucked it dry. I'd suggest working on your sac as that is something you could definitely improve.

Thanks for the advice, guys. The commercial spearfishermen make it look so easy, but I guess they've been at it for a long time, might be diving different mixes, etc. Other than my AOW, I've not had any dives past 80 feet in my almost 100 dives.

Hold on a minute...questions.

You have almost 100 dives and your sac rate is that high? What are you built like Andre the Giant? Are you overweighted? Is your gear streamlined? Are you diving in horizontal trim +\- 10%? Are you a two pack a day smoker? What is your cardio fitness level?

These are the things you need to be self reflecting on in order to lower your SAC. I'd bet that one of those questions has a negative response.

Who cares what your sac is, just carry the gas needed for it, and that means NOT an AL80. Read the min gas links I posted above and observe the chart.

You should also be slinging at least a 30cf pony for redundancy, unless you are going to get trained on doubles.

Everything changes when you start hunting deeper and that is also when most hunters run out of air and die. Lobster seem to claim the most lives.

I am 6'2, 220 lbs, 48 years old, use 6 pounds of weights, gear is streamlined, never smoked a single cig in my life, and my job has me on my feet 11 hours a day lifting and positioning dead-weight patients that are usually in the 300+ pound range all day long. I'd say I'm in better shape than 95% of my fellow humans of similar age.

I never feel winded or out of breath after a dive. Maybe I just consume a bit more air than some of you guys who have been doing this for years and years and years, or perhaps my spearfishing activities causes a bit more respiration.

Perhaps I should go up to 120s for the deeper dives. And I do carry a 30cf pony when I dive deeper than 40 feet.
