The ONLY operator to dive with is Sandy and Vicky at Ocean Quest.I ran some of the top dive resorts in the world and after being on a number of other boats in the area I would only recommend them or capt sl8tr..

I haven't dove with JASA for a few years but I think they would be a good choice for you out of WPB. At that time, they would take the dive site request of the first divers to book on a trip. They always honored it as long dive conditions permitted.

Narcosis is our preferred dive boat but they do tend to go deeper and rarely know the dive site until heading out of the marina.

With any boat, let them know your concerns when you book and again when you board. Both JASA and Narcosis will put a DM in the water with each dive group. Narcosis will have more lobster hunters and spearos. The spearos will be dropped separate from the others. The lobster hunters may go with either group. I'm sure either boat could also arrange a private guide and if you want a refresher I recommend David Finch with Narcosis.

And don't forget BHB as an option for getting your feet wet again.

I can vouch for JASA going where the first diver wants to go as I was asked when I was first up a couple of weeks ago. As it was I wasn't bothered but a few newer divers were also booked and we went to where they wanted to go . Breakers then Playpen and ToyBox I think from memory, all max 60'
I have also dived with Pura Vida out of WPB and always been impressed with them
I would also recommend BHB as an easy way back in

In Boynton I cannot say enough good things about Kevin Metz from Underwater Explorers and I would say he would be ideal if you wanted to go that little bit further down the coast

As long as you are trying to figure out what boat is best for you, among the many criteria is the size of the boat....
There will be plenty of people on SB that love going out on the little island Hoppers ( which I think Sea Pup would be), as the size allows them to offer very personalized service, and with smaller numbers of divers, it "can" be easier to get 7 divers to agree on what to dive on, than to get the same happiness with 20 or more....

On the other hand, a larger boat like Narcosis or Wet Temptations, will not wallow nearly so much in seas as they get bigger than 3 feet, and some of these larger boats can make what would be a rough day on an Island hopper, seem like a dead calm day....

Then there is how much diesel exhaust each boat has, and how hard it is to avoid it....and there is how easy each boat is to get on and off.

And of course, how many spearfisherman, or photographers, or macro shooters, or anyone else that has a dive behavior that will have an impact on everyone else.
Some boats WILL see more of this effecting them than others.

The Island Hoppers are a rough ride that is for sure, and most have a seating layout that makes the people by the engine box completely cramped for space and constantly trampled by people wanting to go up front for whatever reason. Sea Pup minimizes this issue but still has the rough ride.

I would say that I agree with JASA being a good fit for what you are looking for.

+1 for Underwater Explorers and Kevin. Max of 6 divers, plenty of room. All the reefs are about 60 feet, avg depth in the 50s. You can arrange a guide if you want one to start, or dive with others on the boat.

anyone in South Florida who says "the ONLY op" does not get out much. I have worked with many and dive with many. We are blessed to have a whole lot of GREAT dive operators. I have my favorites (as do other SB'ers). Mine are Sl8r and Sea Pup. Other good ops include JDC, Stuart Scuba, Scubaworks. Look 'em over see what op and boat fits your needs.
