The key word was "Christolube"!!! Back in the day that stuff was every bit of $40-$50 for a 2oz tube, so yes, that stuff was expensive. They started losing sales because of price, most shops have switched over to Tribolube. We charge only $22 for a 2oz tube, which lowers the price of service. Yes, researching now (haven't looked back since switching 7yrs ago) it looks like they have lowered the price for "Christolube". My guess is that this store either had a bunch of old stock or has new, but has never updated the pricing. Have you asked them about this? If not, give them a chance to make it right (you may still need to get fills or something else). If you don't want to be bothered then move on. BTW, we service your brands of Regs and we live in NJ. :glad:

I think you should call AA and find out exactly how much CL is needed to environmentally seal your reg........2oz is actually a lot......my guess is it takes less than half that.

Was the $55 in addition to the cost of the service, or was it $55 to service the reg?

Understand also that you are paying the tech for the time it takes to service your regulator (even if nothing is wrong with it) and ensuring everything is in working order such as correcting seating etc. It also keeps your warranty valid (not sure if atomic has free life time parts). I normally expect around $50 per reg each year as a cost.

Its life support and I have NO issue paying the money to the shop here in Ontario that I trust. I have a shop here in town that I could use, but I travel 2 hours (one hour there and one hour back) to a shop that I trust...with my life.

:rofl3:

Was the $55 in addition to the cost of the service, or was it $55 to service the reg?

$55 penalty for the megalube job ON TOP of the service costs. :bandit:

(Please no jokes about getting greased before I got screwed).

2. Of course I paid for the service. I'm objecting to paying over $50 for a full 2oz syringe of Christolube. Cost price is around $22 wholesale and I was charged more than twice that amount. That's OVER 100% markup.

I don't actually see a problem with this. They're allowed to make a few bucks on parts. If you object, you're always welcome to have it serviced somewhere else.

When I was doing electronics service for a side job in college, 100%+ markup on parts and supplies was common, and just about covered the cost of getting and keeping the parts in stock.

Nobody is getting rich on your regulator.

flots.

Totally agree. I'm feeling so burned. I understand that the B2 gets packed with lube but 2 ounces seems ridiculous and the price even more so. Trust me. - they've lost my business and I will be telling my friends too.

Have you talked to the LDS about it? They might be willing to adjust the charges.

If you don't ask, the answer is certainly no. If you do ask, it COULD be yes.

Care to name the shop so we can avoid it? Obviously Wayne chimed in so we know it wasn't him :eyebrow:

$50 on top of a serving fee for just some lube.....hmmn, I'd mention it to the shop and see what they say.
