My SDI card clearly states Advanced Certification. SDI is the recreational arm of TDI is it not?

Why should the Solo Forum be in the Technical Forum instead of the Advanced Diver Forum where in my opinion and that of SDI and PADI it belongs?

I like being all technical and all of that but solo diving in and of itself is not really technical diving. A solo dive could be a technical dive but solo by itself is not a technical subject.

I agree that solo isn't tech. Since you mentioned TDI, it is also interesting to note that TDI blatantly does not condone or sanction solo decompression diving...they do however believe it is prudent for tech divers to be capable and equipped to FINISH a dive solo.

Since "solo" is not in the realm of recreational diving, it is presented in the Technical forums.

Solo, or tech 1, is the first point in the progression of the divers' training were one learns to have all the requirements to survive with one on every dive.

Because we like it over here

I frequently do solo tech dives ... if by tech dive you're inferring a planned deco obligation. So why is that (or should it be) a problem?

I do not think sole means tech. Right or wrong I was diving sole before I finished OW. Was not tech, but I was wearing all black so maybe it was.

I do too, but that doesn't mean they are condoned or approved by the certifying agency or the insurance company. As long as your solo tech diving is within the limits the operator places on you, nothing wrong with it at all. After all, you don't have a wife to sue someone for "letting" you do it.

+1 Solo should be put inside the Advanced forum since you can do both recreational and technical solo dives.

Lawyers, Guns and Money! I am assuming it is all about the taboo stigma associated with solo diving and the liability that SB wants to incur. Or at least that is how I viewed it.
