Makes me wonder if they're discontinuing them during the Aeris integration into Oceanic. Or a rebranded Oceanic model is on the way.

They do sale and people must like them as you never find them used, discounted or on sale as you do other BCD. With the airline fees and now starting to check baggage size at the gate. If you over it gets gate checked and you pay the fee. Looking for smaller compact unit.

I haven't been diving long (about 2 years). When I was starting out, I as looking for something for travel to warm climates. I was sold an Aeris Jetpack. I will be selling it shortly, as I now travel with an Xdeep Ghost. I won't sell it to you unless you promise to not bear a grudge against me. I'd rather sell it to some sucker on CL or ebay. It is a nice idea, but bad design. Your tank is really loose when you dive. It is the worst dive purchase I've ever made. Can't take it back to the shop, as the shop is closed and the owner committed suicide.

Looking to find out if the Dive Caddy or Jetpack would be the better travel? Does anyone use one or the other? Thoughts?

Honestly just get a duffle to stuff your gear into. More functional and way less expensive.

Chris, if you are open to other ideas this is really a good suggestion for maximizing weight and space. It's what I've used for several years. Between this and a standard backpack as my personal item, I can get all my "must have when I land" and travel sensitive items as carry on. I have also never yet been asked to check it at the gate on small or packed planes.

Lack of a secondary market is meaningless. Not available used? Maybe because so few people - if any - buy them new? Not found at discount price or on sale? Perhaps few - if any - retailers have seen the need to stock them, so don't have any to dump?

Dude, go nuts. If it meets your needs, buy one. Hopefully you'll find one cheap, and get a decent price when you sell it in "like new" condition.

ScubaBoard has more than 1/4-million members, and many times that number of non-registered partipants. The "what do folks thing of the JetPack?" question comes up often. In a decade on SB I don't recall a single person answering the question saying "I have one..." much less singing it's praises. The only posts from owners seem to be "For sale... only been in the water 10 times" on the classified board. Seems that "$350 or best offer" is the going rate... but none of them seem to be marked "sold" either. So, you know...

The Oceanic Jetpack has been significantly improved from the Aeris design. The tank no longer moves around. I have taken both on several trips and the Oceanic one has fixed all the complaints about the Aeris one. I also hated the Aeris one but LOVE the Oceanic one. I have had no problem fitting all my gear and some other carry-on items except for my fins and my camera gear. The BC is functional and comfortable to wear as the sizing is completely customizable.

I want to add that I bought the Aeris Jetpack and regret that I did not have the time to test it out first. Despite all my efforts to make the Jetpack work, it has two inherent design flaw.

1) the tank strap to the bcd is not fixed - therefore the tank can move up to 30° each direction. There is a bottom strap for the tank as a feeble attempt to stabilize the tank.

2) I had to add more weights to offset air trapped in the bc; I don't mean the bladder. I found out about this on my last day when I tried to wash and dry my bc. As hard as I tried to get rid of the water sloshing in the bc, I was not able to. I finally figured out that the water was trapped in between the two layers of the bc. I took more than four hours for all the water to drip out.

By the way, if Aeris and Oceanic happen to read this, I had two computers fail on me on this trip. Oceanic Atom and Aeris Epic. And my daughter's Aeris AT600 free flowed on first stage. I am no longer your customer.
