What's your best mask defogger?

I'd be scared of using fire on my mask.

I use baby shampoo, slightly diluted.

I remember the discussion about breathing a used reg. I can't see that a used mask is anywhere near the top of my worry list, either...

Fit, that's a whole 'nother issue. A mask that leaks because it doesn't fit really sucks, so having your own mask is a very good idea anyway. I was reminded about that last weekend, when I considered, but didn't shave before going on an outing. Big mistake, my mask really leaks when the size of my mustache exceeds some three-four days' worth of stubble. I had to clear it about every 30 seconds...

Glass can't burn. IJS. Just keep the flame away from the skirt, and the mask will be just fine.

Me, I use spit. It works, I'm always carrying it. The best type is a really slimy goober that you rub onto the glass, and leave for a minute or so before rinsing the mask with a quick dunk&swish. In the sea, mind you, not in the camera tub...

About one part baby shampoo and 2 or 3 parts water in a pump spray bottle. Spray it in the mask, put it on your face and go enjoy the dive.

I see a lot of people recommending toothpaste or fire to clean the lenses of the manufacturing chemicals. My dive shop recommended using Soft Scrub cleaner. It's more abrasive than toothpaste, but still won't scratch the lens of the mask. I prepped my mask that way, and it doesn't fog up easily.

That being said, I still use the SeaGold gel on my mask when I dive.
