Okay, so while doing the research of the shipwrecks by me, there were a few that i looked at... kinda got the background/history on them.. and of course, one of the facts was how many people died..... Now yes, i know that most of these happened how many years ago, and im (hoping) that the bodies were recovered......

But thats my #1 fear of diving..... finding a dead person... i know that seems very silly, but i dont know how i would be able to handle that.... Has anyone had the horrible luck of having this happen? finding a dead person..

I have considered training in the future to be a local search and rescue diver, but due to the fact that they are out to recover dead bodies... i just.. dont know.. im not sure how i can handle it... Has anyone been in my situation like this.. wanting to do it, but not sure if they can handle it?

Sad thing is when i was in school for athletic training, we went to a medical facility to observe the bodies donated to science and such, not problem.. held a human heart.. No biggie! So why does finding one seem soo.... nerve wracking...

Thanks guys..

I know that right now im no where near dealing with any of this.. but i wanna see what others have done about this fear... (not that its gonna stop me from getting certified or anything! )

Most wrecks that are grave sites are well known and documented as such. If you found a body unexpectedly you would likely be exploring an undiscovered wreck. Not much likelihood unless you own your own boat and are typically out looking for such things.

The likelihood of you randomly coming across human remains in the ordinary course of a wreck dive (unless the wreck went down last week or is otherwise unknown) is approximately ZERO.

That said, if the idea of coming across a body underwater freaks you out... being a search and rescue diver is probably a really, really bad idea.

I think you left out a "really"...

Simple redundancy. Two is one, and one is none

Two is one, and one is none but three leaves one for you and two for me....

Being a public safety diver is not like being a recreational scuba diver. They are typically diving in contaminated and very low visibility water. And yeah, a lot of the time you are looking for bodies or parts of bodies. Or more often, feeling for bodies.
