I also prefer leaving the snorkel at home. In choppy water the reg would be better.
If needing to carry it, it would go in a pocket. It is as accessible as it needs to be. It's not something you need in one second.
Cutting it may be ok depending on the length of the original snorkel. Some may be a bit too long, but others are fine the way they are and if shorter then it defeats the purpose of being able to breathe in rougher seas because the water will go over the snorkel and you have to stop breathing. For that I'd just not have anything and close my mouth when a wave comes :p

You probably should not have cut your snorkel. OUch!!! Seriously , if you have a short snorkel you might find yourself struggling to keep it clear under slightly windy or choppy conditions. You will probably have to constantly purge it after exhaling to make sure it is clear that can be really exhausting. The last thing you want is to continually inhale even small trace amounts of salt water, this will really irritate your lungs, or worse.

Use a freedivers snorkel. Not that corrugated tube, fancy top nonsense.

If you have to have one, and don't want it in your pocket, I can think of two things that might help with "warble." One, already mentioned, is get a snorkel that has a more oval shape to it. The other thing you can try is to get one that has the swiveling snorkel keeper on, so the snorkel can pivot a little bit to find the best angle of attack for anti warbelation. I have some that will pivot the whole 360 degrees.

I haven't needed a snorkel since Reagan was President. . . .

Was that to drink the Kool-Aid through?

Okay, I guess I should add a legitimate comment. What is the objection to floating on one's back while waiting for a boat? Why would I want my face in the water where I can't see the boat approach? I don't understand the use of a snorkel in this instance. A snorkel is an aid for surface swimming.

I find that when swimming on the surface I like to have my reg in my mouth. When all is calm i breath around it. When a wave comes through I clamp down and draw through the reg. Reduces the air consumption and makes my life more pleasant. I should note I have a secure and a couple missing teeth so my reg does not come out easily even if I am holding it loosely in the mouth.

C'mon, THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT SNORKEL "BUZZ"...............................it's about snorkel warble.
Of course, but what do you expect. I contributed as well with info. not requested by the OP. There are certain subjects we can't help philosophizing about. See: MOF, Spare Air, Split Fins, solo vs. buddy. Who cares what exactly the OP asks....

Earth to Canada, HELLO..... how could you possibly have construed my post as anything other than a jest?

After 40 good posts, I got the right answer: Change to a different Dive Club.
