And Bob just twists it into something good natured and productive...
BTW, I'm a fan of your perspective Bob.

I'm a fan of Bob as well. I read his posts carefully. I read all of it too. I may not agree with him on every point, but I'm not about to dismiss him or any of his insights or criticisms out of hand. It's good to ponder on them for a few hours or more. He's not a FIGJAM by any stretch. I don't know how well Bob takes criticism, as I've never felt the need to do that. You can learn a lot about a person by how they handle criticism. Some obviously want to improve while others are more intent to simply deny.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to dive together in the Philippines, Pete ... then we can critique each other to our heart's content (good naturedly, of course) ...

We've dove together before, Bob, in Bonaire. I had no complaints with you then and I'm sure you've improved.

Sure hope so ... done more than a couple thousand dives since then ... and probably picked up a couple bad habits along the way ...

Hmmm... hmmm... interesting... I have no idea if my sidemount rig conforms to anyone's standards or not. It predates any of the new dedicated sidemount stuff, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't. And AFAIK there were no sidemount instructors or courses around; maybe I ought to grab me one, take a course & see what all I've missed!
Oh, when I started this post I had a point, & sort of got sidetracked.
the Point - Standardization is a good thing, generally, so long as it doesn't stifle innovation :)

So, after 389 post and there has yet to a be a BM diver badmouthing a SM diver. OTOH, there is a great battle between SM to SM divers. So, I will stick with what I said from the start, the thread should have never been started. Trying to make SM divers as some sort of elite group and thinking that others are taking jabs at you every chance they get just does not happen.
