I am very glad to hear you are OK, Tammy. The diabetes is a real bummer that may indeed cause a lot of lifestyle changes, but I am sure you have the wherewithal to cope with whatever comes of it.

I'm really glad you are on your way to a full recovery and I hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions. Obviously, you aren't required to answer any of them, and if you do, feel free to post them here or in a PM/Conversation.
  • What was your Gradient factor? I'm running the default one (70/30) and I want to know if I should consider making it a bit more cautious. VPM +B set at 3
  • Were there any other factors, other than being dehydrated, that you can think of? Quick ascent, bail out, etc??? Nope. Even overstayed Deco by 5 min. with a PO2 of 1.5. Normal ascent. Nothing unusual. The dehydration is believed to be caused by undiagnosed Diabetes (my blood sugar was over 500- should be about 100). Diabetes runs strong in my family & it was just a matter of time.
  • Would you be willing to show us your profile? I have no problems with showing my profile from my computer,... I just have no clue how to do it. If someone can help guide me, I will gladly post it.
  • How long do you think you will you be out of diving? Hyperbaric Dr. said 6 weeks. Hopefully when I get home, I have to find a Dr. & we can get things in order quickly.
[/putting Tammy on the spot] I can't say it enough, but I really, really hope you heal quickly. You may not realize it, but there was a DCS incident on a rebreather on 3/31/2016 that resulted in the diver's demise. This shouldn't be confused with the heart attack that happened on April 2 that's getting a lot of attention. Few are talking about this. Diving accidents happen and the more we know about them the more we can protect ourselves from the vagaries of pressure. I hope you don't mind me putting you on the spot like this. Feel free to bop me the next time you see me!

Tammy thanks for posting, glad to hear you are recovering. Also, it's good to know that Valdosta is still taking divers for treatment.

Glad you said that. Just a note to all divers of North Central FL. I was informed, while there, that South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta is the ONLY place taking divers for hyperbaric treatment. The chamber in Tallahassee has been shut down. They have 2 chambers available.

When I got bent I took a table 6 on Sunday night and a table 5 Monday morning before they would release me. I was out of the water for 6 weeks.

Longest 6 weeks of my diving career.
