In this thread Where to get a custom BCD made? I am very disappointed to see the mods side with the paying advertiser and reprimand the common SB user. This is not Tobin's first brawl here, he will argue round and round just to make "his" point, even to the point of arguing unimportant points. The man is rude and crass but I have not seen any threats of throwing him off SB.

I would have put this in the whine and cheese section but it doesn't appear to be here anymore.

The thread has been edited but Aqua-Andy raised an interesting point. Are SB supporters given different treatment by the moderators or is bad behavior tolerated because it raises board interest and readership ? One reader remarked that Tobin's post wouldn't dissuade him from being a DSS customer. I on the other hand feel differently.

I agree. Tobin's responses have been way over the top. Aggressive and rude spring to mind. I for one will think twice before doing business with him again. The moderation was a pathetic attempt to "not piss off Tobin". Tobin's response? More of the same. Next post continued to demean the OP.

They must have toasted the post you are referring to. Nothing showing after the Mod Post.

It had nothing to do with him being an advertiser. He did nothing that came in conflict with the TOS. A disagreement between two people does not mean either is wrong as this is an open discussion forum. Personal attacks would cross that line and those should be handled by the mods. Calling someone a "douche" would be deemed a personal attack. The mods finally closed the thread because it was going no where and it was simply a bunch of bickering. What would you have, Tobin banned because he disagreed with Benno, man if that starts happening there will be a TON of bans coming down the tracks..

Whine/Cheese is now http://www.scubaboard.com/community/forums/thumbs-down.300/

Neither of the above:
The community must always come first. I won't be held hostage by someone's money.
If you want to follow along for the context - it's mid-thread in the other active thread in this forum - although the post starts on a different issue. Open-Ended Bans?

I must admit to being a little bu++hur+ about another thread where several of my comments have been deleted for being "political". This was in the "why are primary lights so expensive". I really don't see where my comments were at all political, other than bringing up economic issues like wages and how that ties into pricing. Also how most small business owners end up making well below min wage. Oh well.... I my opinion of SB just dropped quite a bit. I guess I have to re-align my politically correct filter before I make anymore posts that have anything to do with economics or business.

I don't recall seeing the Mods publish who has been reprimanded for what... ever.

Some of those threads get completely derailed. I'm glad that posts in the light thread were removed. Points were made then it devolved into bickering over semantics and political views that had little to do with lights ot the intended topic of the thread.

Wouldn't it have been better to complain to the mods directly about not liking a members posts than to start a thread to complain about that member? No offense but it comes off a bit whiney. :)

Some of mine were deleted from the primary lights thread too. However, I think the mods were right to do so in my case. I got offtopic, along with Tobin and a few others. I haven't checked the thread really - I'm hoping all the offtopic posts were deleted and not just select ones. It was an informative thread with detailed cost information was posted by a manufacturer. Our discussion diluted the thread's value.

That said, unless a thread is about "an argument" I don't see how mods can defend Tobin's posts in the other thread. They're just as off topic as my posts in the primary lights thread were.
