I would recommend the following. Discard current oring. Clean any trace of lubricant from the channel. Install new oring.

In my experience a din oring popping off the first stage means that I didn't completely depressurized the regulator. Try depressing the purge for 15 seconds after the sound stops.

I've had some o-rings that just didnt want to stay put (even after 100% sure reg is depressurized).

It might start sticking more once it gets a little worn and dirty.

Or just change it and try a new one.

On a different note, I got to try my Eddy fins in a pool today and loved them. The wife didn't even noticed I slipped them from the unwrapped present pile to try them out

Thanks, I thought I was totally depressurizing the system by holding the purge down for 5 or so seconds after the sound stopped, but maybe there was still some pressure. I'm gonna toss that o-ring, depressurize a tad longer and see how it goes. Thanks for the help

It was funny, I grabbed the fins from the unwrapped pile and my daughter said "you're gonna be in trouble" we laughed and packed to go to the pool. We got back from working skills in the pool at exactly the same time the wife came home from work and the bright orange fins were in my mesh bag so I knew I was busted. Surprisingly, the wife didn't even realize I had taken them til I dried them and handed the fins to my daughter to put back in the unwrapped pile. I then got a "HEY! those are for Christmas! I can't believe you took them!"

Did you hear any kind of hiss or pop when you took your reg off?

You might have had pressure still. Pressing the purge releases the low pressure. The high pressure in your SPG+hose can take a while to equalize.

@guruboy - I never noticed a hiss or pop, but I'm not saying I didn't over look it or miss it while unscrewing the reg and talking to my daughter or friends after the dive either. I'll pay more attention as I take it off and see if I notice a pressure release as I remove the first stage. I'm thinking you guys are 100% correct, there's still a little pressure or it's just the o- ring, I'm gonna toss it and put a new one on tonight when I pack my stuff up from yesterdays pool trip.

Just make sure it is a 90duro o-ring. If you get some of those "magic o-ring assortment" packs they throw all kind of crap o-rings in there. HP needs the 90..

It doesn't really matter that much for the yoke or DIN fitting o-rings. 90D is preferred but a 70D will work, just maybe not last as long. Easy enough to change out when needed.

I am sure bubble gum would work, but there is a reason the higher durometer o-rings are used for a high pressure connection. So sure you can McGuyver it and use an o-ring that is inferior to the one that actually goes there, but that could also be part of the problem you are experiencing.
