Hello from Spain. I'm very disappointed with the D1 model, I bought two brand new strobes in winter 2014 and both are ruined, one in August and the other in December, with the same problem: the xenon bulb burned while diving. Everything works but the strobe don't fires.

The first was bought in Japan and I sent it to the factory and there was no possible to fix it, so I had to buy a new D2 in September.

Now the other that I bought in ebay has the same problem. I think it is not a fair situation...

Please tell me what can I do. I spent a lot of money in two "good" strobes and any of them don´t last two years.

It is way too late to get a refund for the one you bought on ebay.
In the future remember that you have 30 days after arrival to open a not as described case on ebay and 180 days to do it on paypal.
If you can still open the case on ebay the seller is required to pay return shipping. If you open the case on paypal you will be required to pay return shipping.

Unless the eBay seller offered a warranty of some kind, Why in the world would he open a claim on eBay or paypal? He got what he paid for and it worked when he got it.

If you break something, you don't get to return it.

"...If you break something, you don't get to return it..."

Not on ebay. You have 30 days to return it after delivery if it breaks or malfunctions for any reason. The only exception is buyer remorse. Paypal gives the buyer 180 days to return it for a full refund! Trust me, I know. I've been selling on ebay for a long time and know the drill all too well. "30 day rentals" is a huge problem on ebay.
If you still don't believe me read the money back guarantee on ebay. It may not be right but that is the way it is.
The 180 day paypal return window is even worse. The USPS only keeps online records of delivery for 120 days. Scam buyers buy something then wait the 120 days to open an item not received case. Since online viewable tracking is no longer availabla after that time period the seller can't prove delivery and paypal refunds the buyer. Fortunately most of the low rent scammers don't know that yet, or aren't willing to wait 120 days, but there are pros that make a living exploiting those loopholes.
I know it's hard to believe but every word is true.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot...if the buyer returns a rock in a box ebay will still force a refund. It happens every day. Considering there are about 8 million listings on ebay at any given time it probably happens thousands of times a day to sellers.

BTW a warranty on ebay is practically worthless. Very few manufacturers support warranties on third party sites like ebay. If you see a warranty on an ebay listing find another seller because that one is using the ye olde confidence scam..."you can trust me. Just look at my awesome 25 year warranty!" (I actually saw a listing the other day with a 25 year warranty for a phone battery from china lol)

People take advantage of the system all the time. Doesn't mean you should encourage more people to do the same.

if you you break something or even if it just breaks on its own, through no fault of the seller, and then use eBay and Paypal's ridiculous policies to return it, you are a waste of space.

(I am using the general you, not anyone specific)

I agree wuth you 100%. As a seller I don't mind taking a legit return within 30 days if something malfunctions or breaks due to normal handling. What I hate is when people have buyer remorse and break the item on purpose so they can return it and force me to pay the return postage on top of issuing a refund. If it is a buyer remorse return then the buyer pays return shipping. That never happens. Instead it gets the hammer and returned broken.
I won't even go into the paypal return nightmare.

If I had sold the OP the lights and they burned out in 30 days or less due to normal use I would want them to return it. But after almost two years? That is unreasonable.
I think the 180 day paypal return policy is insane.

I agree with this and stopped selling on eBay due to outrageous buyer demands.

The difficulty with scuba is that unless you have a dive trip planned right away, you can't test things out really.
