Depending on depth, visibility and water temperatures it varies.
Task loading becomes difficult and response time to situations becomes slowed.
Tunnel vision
Reverberating wawa sounds in my head. Either that or it's boats overhead and I'm too narc'd to know the difference.

I like it.
Same here, I'll hear an intermittent sound that fades in and out that sounds just like a boat or torpedo propeller, as if a boat or torpedo is moving back and forth somewhere in the background, I've never experienced anything visual or other noises other than the 'prop' noises.

Edited/deleted b/c I realized OP was after stories from folks with "unique" symptoms from peeps who were "really narced". Oops.

I drink alcohol, so I know when I'm narked. Hallucinating is a totally differnt matter, at more thank 200ft on air.

I figured I was narked when a manatee asked me to snuggle with it and take a nap:wink:

Like was mentioned previously, I do not think I ever realized I was narked until I took Helitrox and started diving Helium. After that I surprised how much clearer everything seemed. The best part now is watching others. I did a dive with a buddy to 150, I was on a 25/25 and he was on air. He was narked, it was kind of funny actually, and of course on the surface he was like, " I wasn't narked, I was fine, I could tell" LOL nope he was!!

I have never felt narked but writing my (rather long) name backwards on a slate at 36m took 75 seconds but only 17 seconds at the surface. I also wrote "den" twice but recognized my mistake and crossed out one of the "den's".

I tend to notice an 'excited' feeling in my chest as I start to descend below 40m, and the occasional jungle drums. Other than that, I've never noticed any real impairment - I often ask myself technical and math questions in my head, and I've never seemed to have a problem answering them, although I suppose who am I to judge that I I'm the one that's narc'd?

I've done a 'dry dive' in a chamber to 50m with a few folks. Noticed I suddenly started talking with a very northern (England) accent down there. Not a great sign to use when under water unfortunately. Also couldn't stop giggling for the whole time at everyone's squeaky voices.

Recently on a dive to 40m with a friend a few weeks back, he started swimming down to a small boat wreck below and about 20m away from us. Managed to get his attention and we ascended a bit (he has eyes like saucers). Later he told me that he saw a chap on the bow of the boat waving him over.

The first time, I ran out of air (not a big deal because of no SPG, it was a usual evolution) but I was deep. I think "crap!" and head to the surface fast, until I realize I had not pulled the j-valve for the reserve, so l pulled the reserve and continued to the surface normally, and calmly.

Now I just assume I'm narked past 100', so I won't take any deviation from my dive plan, or any small issue lightly. I just don't want to be diving fat, dumb, and happy and be supprised, when something goes wrong, that I'm narked.

On the good side, I do love following down the deep blue sirens of the deep, but I have learned when to go home.

Only once, did I have trouble to turn my light on. It was @ 35 meters, so my guess is that I was narced.

As Bob said, I do not feel the effect of narcosis, but I now it is present. So I take it really slow and careful.

When the voices in my head start talking with an Italian accent I know I'm narked.
