I'm a Fish!
Why was my post about the UTD Essentials of Recreational Course moved to the Q&A for agencies forum when clearly I wasn't asking any questions about UTD?

There were questions about NAUI or PADI courses in the Basic Scuba Discussion, they were not moved to Q&A for agencies.

There were questions on equipment on the Basic Scuba Discussion, but they were not moved to Q&A for equipment manufacturers.

There were discussions on GUE Fundies in the Basic Scuba Discussion, but there were not moved into a Fundies Forum.

It post was posted in the Basic Discussion in the first place to let those new to diving know that there is such a class as UTD Essentials of Recreational Diving for those who wants to improve their skills, and moving the post with the videos where graduates talked about their experience after the course to Q&A agency sounds like a deliberate move to "bury" the info.

I'd guess it's because none of those other questions contained advertising which is not allowed in that forum. If some of the non-speciific questions you alluded to do also, please report them for moderation consideration.

I just noticed the mod that moved the post has been alerted and will likely provided more clarity.

Posts in all dive related forums are openly indexed and searchable indefinitely. Moving a post does not "bury" it. All show up once per member in a new posts search also.

I posted a reply in the thread here:
UTD Essentials of Recreational Diving - What graduates say

As Steve says, it's due to the advertising nature of your post. You won't find a GUE instructor-started thread advertising their courses in Basic either.

It has been a long time since I posted. I thought I'd post a video of a course I taught recently interviewing the graduates about their experience.

For those interested in taking this course, you can book me through my site www.thinkingdivers.com

Here's a video of people who recently ate chocolate ice cream. Contact me for your chocolate ice cream needs.

See the connection? No problem with the post and if it was a response to someone who was asking for options for a course we would have left it in place. As it stands, the thread appears to have been created to induce people to take your course.

If that is not the case then maybe review the wording of your post and we can move it.

Edit: Pete and I simul-posting again.

You're a "thinking diver", so now I want you to be a thinking poster. Being overly aggressive in promoting a class or anything on a forum will actually do you more harm than good. SB mods are not punishing you by moving your thread: they are protecting you from yourself. We know our community. We know what they will see as acceptable and what pisses them off. Like a good Scuba class, we're helping you to not silt out the place. That's a good thing. Help us help you.

Did you read your post?

We try to be really, really lenient, but how could we NOT take this as blatant advertisement?

Thank you Mr Chairman for the clarifications. So its was moved because of ONE post, got it.

I take it that if I comb the Basic forum I would not get anyone mentioning "If you need more info on (name of course) you can reach me at ..." kind of post at least once? I'll take your word for it. And probably there would be no advertisement of any courses too by anyone asking another diver to "you should take (name of course)...." am I correct? I'll take your word for that too.

Once again, thank you for your clarifications. If I should come across any of the above, I would be sure to inform the mods to move the thread. Looking forward for the Q&A agencies section to include PADI, NAUI and GUE.

Yes, I appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Appreciate the response. It would be more appropriate to remove that one post and tell me why its was removed than moving the entire thread. But then again, you place, your rules.
