vinegar is also acidic, same as urine. if it can survive urine, it will survive vinegar. steramine tablets...
So is Sulfuric acid. Urine does no harm to me. Does that mean Sulfuric acid won't harm me either?

There's something called acidity.

Average urine is around pH 6
Distilled white vinegar is pH 2.4

That puts vinegar at about 1,000 more acidic.

I'm aware of how acidic vinegar is, that said the things that cause UTI's are very tolerant of low pH. I think Lynne actually did some testing a few years back on that subject. Vinegar is also not a very good disinfectant regardless of its pH.

IIRC her recommendation was flush with plain water, then put some diluted alcohol in the tube and valve and let it sit for a few minutes, then flush with plain water.

You're using a clean condom every time. Whatever microbes grow in the tubing are not going to crawl up the tube, into the conDom, and down your urethra during a dive. At least not speaking for male p valves. And especially not since you prime them after you put them on.

I'm not saying not to clean your tubing. But you're not going to get a uti from your p valve.

i know a few people who have gotten them from p-valves that might beg to differ.... using clean condoms

Here: P-Valve, care & use

And remember: "The solution to pollution is dilution."

I use Tygon PVC clear tubing which allows me to see any discoloration or contamination inside the tube. That's better than wondering what's inside an opaque tube.

I use hibiclense and squirt it in, let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse with water. Hen let air dry with valve open. Then before my dive I give another squirt with it before hooking up

I have a condiment-style squeezy bottle that I fill with the Chemgene solution used to disinfect my loop / lungs. Run some of that through then rinse with fresh water after a days diving (basically whenever I disinfect the loop)

I have a balanced pee valve and when I squirt disinfectant into the tube, it drains out right away.

Is this alright, or are there any tips to make the disinfectant dwell in the tube & valve longer?
