getting a DG03 into the @!#$!@ bungee mount

I have 2 DGO3s and I found the same - the first one I actually did tear the mount but it still is serviceable. The 2nd one I got luckier. I didn't find the hot water trick to help a lot. I was using a flathead screwdriver to try to pop it in and maybe that was wrong. For a few minutes I thought it couldn't be done, even.

One of mine needed a new battery when I was on a trip to NC. I bought the battery at Olympus Dive Center and I about turned cartwheels when they offered to install it for me. I really did not want to deal with getting the puck out of the mount. Of course the dive shop guy had it done in about 5 minutes and I heard no cursing. I should have asked how he did it but I was so happy that I didn't even think about it.

Soaking in hot water for a couple minutes works great for me. It makes it super easy no rips and I've had to replace battery a couple of times.

Interesting. Well I'm hoping now that it's installed it'll stretch a little and battery changes will be easier. Do you give it a hot water soak before removal too, or does it pop out pretty easy?

I didn't soak for removal. Just use a small flat head. Get it under the lip a good way in so you can push from beneath with other hand and work screwdriver around the lip to pop it out.

OK glad this thread caught my eye, have one sitting at home that I need to mount. Didn't foresee it being difficult at all but will now take my time.

What is the "proper" routing of the bungee? Mine just came with a length of bungee crammed into it, I've never used a computer thats mounted with bungee before.

"proper" bungee mounting would be with two separate lengths of bungee cord, making an X (each going corner to corner), that way you won't lose the computer if one breaks. the mounts that I got with my DG03s, however, seem designed for a single bungee, with a nice little pocket to tuck the knot into.

If it's a DSS mount there is *nothing* that prevents you from lacing it with two separate loops, one continuous loop (my preferred method) or a hybrid of the two.

What specifically leads you to believe you cannot form two distinct loops?

One can of course simply add a knot on the portion of the bungee that passes from one end of the mount, and behind the instrument.

The reality is bungee is pretty tough and out right failure is uncommon.

I apologize, perhaps I wasn't clear. To be sure, nothing prevents one from making two distinct loops - in fact, that's the preferred method. I was simply trying to alert Austin to that, despite clues and appearances to the contrary; i.e. the mount comes with only a single length of bungee cord and the mount seems designed to accommodate a single length (a single knot pocket on one side).
