If we have, I am happy to provide an alternate non square profile interpretation of the dives that makes the OPs day totally safe.

I think that you are right, I think that the OPs day was safe. But it was safe because he had a computer on his wrist that he didn't understand, and it didn't alarm. So I think that it's very important for the new divers reading this thread to understand that. Not trying to be hysterical here or beat up on anyone, but this is the flip side of "tables are fine for me".

If you don't know what your profile is, then you assume square. That's just good practice, and it's also an incentive to either plan a dive ahead of time or at least understand the implications of computer diving so that you get the NDLs that you deserve.

No reason for the OP to be scared away, if they are a thinking diver who wants to learn and do things better. Especially important if you are diving with your kid.

Has everyone assumed the instructor is a moron?

After 4 training dives from 2 different classes in one day with a minor and only 30 minute SI between the first three dives? Yes, I think that is pretty universally accepted.

Well, physiology aside, 30 minutes is not enough time to de-brief, swap gear, get hydrated (and maybe even a snack!) address questions, brief the next dive and get back in the water.

Reading the OP's post again, I agree with @giffenk and his interpretation of it. The OP has previously used tables but had a computer for these dives and was wondering why the huge difference between the two (explained of course by the tables assumption of square profile versus the real world multi level profile).

While it might not be ideal, and I certainly would make a point of not doing it, it appears that the computer did not provide any adverse feedback to it. It also appears that he might have had some deco on the third dive(potentially due to the short SI) as he had multiple stops at 60, 30 and 15ft.
