cam slots optimized for the VDH plate, but not sure what the spacing on Erics plate is. I'm sure you could ask @OWIC647 what the spacing is and he'd tell you.
I haven't used that one, but I used one the one it was based off of which has already been mentioned in this thread.
I assume the Freedom plate is what is in question and it has VERY wide spacing for cam band slots so it wouldn't be an issue

That bungee is the perimeter cord. Basically it works to keep the wing in some semblance of a donut. Not very restrictive in practice and not something I'd be concerned about.

I've used the wing quite a bit and I'm very proud to have my company name on it. The VDH plate was designed by Luis around the industry standard of slots and attachment points found on most back plates and thus far I have yet to have a customer say the new wing won't work with the plate they are using. The slots in the wing hold the cam bands secure while most back plates have more than ample room in the slots to move the wing up or down to suit individual requirements.
The perimeter bungee cord keeps the profile compact and close to the cylinder which is what most of my customers ask for as they are trying to dive minimal equipment in the most streamlined configuration possible.

I was diving one last Friday up at Gilboa and sold three of them while I was there.

Just curious,
Has anybody here used Golem's single tank donut wing?
Golem Gear Wing 35
How does it match up to Oxycheq's Mach V or other single tank 360 loop wings? Size wise, construction, durability, etc.
I have customers needing wings for my plates and I don't know what to tell them.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!

Eric,

As you know I have a Freedom Plate but no Golem wing. I have just received my VDH Argonaut #18 wing and I would say it matches up to my Oxycheq's Mach V wing in each criteria you've mentioned. Tomorrow if I have time I'll post pictures of it mounted to my FP. I have not taken it for a dive yet-here is my post on the VDH:

I received mine and installed it onto my VDH plate with no problems. I have not taken it for a dip yet, but I'm impressed with the quality and aesthetics. I also ordered an extra bladder and I can say the same about it's quality. The only issue, if you want to call it that, the elbow was clocked 180 degrees off. (Edit here-Bryan explained that the elbow was faced that way for shipping.) However, this gave me the chance to verify that the elbow and OPV components are interchangeable with tons of other wings hardware out there-and that's important to me.

Nice job Bryan.
Here it is on the right next to my Oxycheq 30 lb wing. (pardon the picture quality)

BTW I also have a HOG #23 wing and while it it very nice-the one I have has a center mounted inflator elbow-I do not care for the center mount. It also has welded elbow and OPV fittings that are not interchangeable with what has become the standard parts. In my book, that is a big minus.

Yes it is for the Freedom Plate.
I have a brand new version in the works. I'm still in the testing and tweeking phase. So far the only people that have them are me and a few locals. All my plates are made in house now and when production starts I will be making them to order.
Details To come later...
I've also added a special tank bracket that is removable and is set on 11" centers, so now a wing can be held securely in place between the plate and bracket. Kind of how a STA works, but it's not really a STA because the plate isn't being converted, it's already a single tank only plate. So I'm just simply calling it a tank bracket.
But I still like the idea of the cam bands going through the plate, even though they don't really have to with these new style tank brackets, but it does give a little more security knowing the bands are holding EVERYTHING together. Cheap insurance right?
So like I said, I've been out of the loop for a while and have a lot of catching up to do about wings, components, the latest greatest places to get stuff on the internet, etc.

Tomorrow if I have time I'll post pictures of it mounted to my FP.
OK here are a few pictures. The pix of the wing/plate/tank are the Argonaut wing and VDH plate. The rest are pretty self explanatory. Note the bands are 2 inches wide.

Eric,

If nothing else you should get one to verify or nix it. Personally, I think you will find it very similar to the Oxycheq wing which is an excellent fit for the Freedom Plate. Bryan has stated he'll take it back if not satisfied.

Great to see you're back here and making more plates. I haven't seen Caitlin post in a long while. If you see her send my hello, and tell her my "sumptuous wine low level light is on."

I have seen a Golem wing but did not dive it. I agree with @tbone1004 that the construction is fine. From what I remember the wing was wider than the narrow wings from Oxycheq and DSS. It reminded me of a Hog 32 or the older Hollis 35, but I think they are made Eastern Europe not in the far east.

I didn't know you are still making plates.

I haven't seen or heard from Caitlin in several years. I gathered from a source that she no longer works at Alexander Valley Vineyards (the best Zin I've ever had) and is back teaching now. I don't know if she still dives or not?
I'm for sure getting that wing to see it.

I started back up due to too many emails and people pestering me for them. But it's limited and I havent set a price point yet because doing all the cutting in house has added labor on my part but saved on laser cutting and logistics so I have to weigh that out. Also the economy has turned around and people seem to have a little more disposable income for things, so we'll see how it goes.

If that Golem wing is one of those wide inner panel styles I think I'll pass. I just set up a local here with a plate and he had an OMS 35 lb singles wing that he got a screaming deal on. It worked, but they are so wide they almost look like a small doubles wing. I don't get why some of these companies make them so wide for a single tank?
Thanks for the info :)
