Hi, I just bought my wife the above camera and strobe with optical cable, and the Fantasea housing with a 12" arm and tray. We are leaving Friday early am for a week long trip to St. Lucia and I was wondering if anyone had some basic settings just to get her started.

Thanks,

Scott

Are you happy with the results? I have the same strobe and plan to buy the same camera so I'll be happy to know how they work together and advice for the settings.
Thanks

Yes very happy with it! As far as settings, I used the settings on the links in the first comment and Welcome to the Reef Photo Knowledge Base

One thing is to set the flash to always fire (you can set it to low) but the strobe won't fire unless told to. Which i found out on the first trip....

Below are three pictures that I took on the first trip with it. If you are planning on doing any post picture processing, let me know and I can give you some links to free programs to start with.

Thanks for answering and posting the nice pictures, I'll check the link you wrote! For post picture processing I use Lightroom and I like it.

Hello,

I have the same camera and strobe. Could you help me with settings please ?

Should I use the strobe (Inon S2000) with magnet ? As I heard the canon g7x mark II hasn't preflash ?

Thanks alot

I take photos in manual mode and the magnet is on, like i did with the previous camera. I just began to dive with this camera and strobe and there is a problem sometimes - the flash fires but seems not to be synchronized with the camera. I don't know yet what is the problem and I intended to ask the forum...

Often times that is caused by little mirrors in the housing being misaligned. See if there are any that you can adjust and test it. I used to have to do that with the housing I kept my T2i in.

Thank you ! I don't see any mirrors in my Fantasea housing...

I am thinking you have strobe that is looking to fire on first light and that your camera is preflashing for TTL (through the lens metering) and when it fires and opens the shutter your strobe has already fired. I think the G7X2 does TTL in Manual mode based on some basic Google sleuthing I just did. I think you might want to try with the magnet out and setting the strobe for S-TTL.
