Full discosure: I’m a doctor in math and not medicine but this really sounds more like Munchausen’s Syndrome than DCS. Especially with the warning in the OP’s preamble.

I don't think that's an accurate characterization. Munchausen's folks do not disclose their anxieties like the OP has. IMO he has some good insights about his own personality.

Best regards,
DDM

How about we agree on Somatic System Disorder? Worth an RVU in DSM 5.

@doctormike Thank you, that makes sense to me now. I was thinking that maybe injured tissue not subjected to recompression takes longer to off gas. My main logical worry after convincing myself I had DCS was will I off gas in a week? Have I done nerve damage so that I will suffer from headaches for the foreseeable future? and what will happen getting back in the water after a week if it was DCS?

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I am very aware of my anxieties/worries and how they affect me, but the way they work is that every time is THE time and logical thinking flies away. At the end of chatting to the DDRC doctor our main topic of conversation was anxiety rather than DCS, kind of a tell tale sign right there.

Still have a dull headache but may well be as much to do with stress and worry than anything else, I can't actually pinpoint when it started after the dive.

Anyway I have a few more days out the water and then I will be back in, will update accordingly.

Does this sound like DCS?

Not to me.

The way you conducted the dives is something I've done many times myself. Have you made other "deco" dives?

DCS usually presents (about 90%) with pain and it usually presents within 2-8 hours after the dive. If you weren't feeling "off" until the next morning and you weren't in pain then I would suspect just about anything else first.

@Diver0001 I have made many deco dives before, but as I am so remote here I do not want to really go that way.

I did mention originally I felt 'off' until the next morning, maybe late morning, it was maybe after this I developed this headache. So I do remember the day after the dive, I actually woke up feeling ok, then at about 10am something crept on me and I felt 'off'. After a nap I was ok again and carried on my day as normal.

Also after the dive I was still capable to take apart my camera housing and very very gently play a little 3 on 3 soccer.

Since then I have gone through large time spans of feeling ok (still with a dull headache that comes and goes), and then a few times (maybe 3) like right now when I am sitting by myself (maybe dwelling too much on those worries) and start to feel a little 'off' again. It is after lunch after a long morning on the boat and I am not sure wether it is the sun, lunch and sea + no nap that has me feeling this way or a relapse in my DCS symptoms from nerve/tissue damage….?

Problem is, my anxiety is such that when it acts up I convince myself I have an illness of which my symptoms fit. Once convinced, the symptoms seem to hang around. However I don't want to let myself believe anxiety if the cause until I have ruled out the other illnesses in question.

Thanks

I understand if no one replies to my consistent rambling and what seems like asking the same question multiple times/not listening to anyone. I promise that isn't the case.

One more thing, before the dive, very much right before the dive while kitting up I felt very nauseous, now I wasn't worried at all then and I know that wasn't DCS related. However right now I feel the same nausea and have done once since after the dive. Along with the headache and this I am just further into the rabbit hole. Does this change anyones thoughts?

As you can see my worry has now shifted from having DCS to I have had DCS and what I am feeling is the irreparable damage done by that N2 as I didn't recompress. Farfetched?

I would not draw a firm conclusion like that without an in-person evaluation by an individual qualified to make that diagnosis. That said, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.

I am much more interested in the weeks before this dive:
.... and have currently been at my island location for 17 days or so. I would say I have done around 10/11 dives in those 17 days. No one day had multiple dives and all but 2 dives have been very conservative on a Suunto Zoop.
....
What type of climate were you in before you moved to this island? What's the difference in temperature and humidity between your previous location and current location? Do you sleep with aircon?
A climate change can take months (not days!!) for your body to get accustomed to. The amount of fluids your colleagues are taking is very likely too little for you. Airconditioning will dehydrate you even further.

Very farfetched. I, and other qualified individuals, have offered opinions about this already. I do respect your considerable insight into your own anxiety, and I would submit that a mental health professional may be able to provide you with some tools to cope with it. Many people have derived benefit from a mindfulness-based stress reduction program. Here's one near you: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

@dukedivemedicine ok thanks. Very kind of you to send that link. Before I left Canada for this trip I was receiving help. I am aware of my issue and was attempting to take the necessary steps to eliminate it from my life, which I will very much do once I return. SSD is a big probability in my case/s. Great to hear that theory is farfetched. I guess in reality if someone was to suffer from a persistent dull headache from a DCS the original symptom would have been slightly worse than a dull headache. I should most likely assume that if I am feeling the same in and out symptoms as I was after my dive 120 hours later with no subsequent dive it maybe something other than diving related.

@Miyaru I was in Canada, west coast, BC. Now Seychelles. Very very different climates. No air con in my room, but at the office.
For my first 2 weeks here I was pretty non-stop, trying to make a good impression, no naps, no rest, go go go. I did think on that evening after the suspect dive it was just total exhaustion from that.

@doctormike You mentioned sinuses, but not being able to obviously diagnosis over internet, the headache I have is most definitely lower centre forehead majority of the time, my ears have also been feeling 'off', not congested just 'off' sometimes and one thing I have noticed the last few days is (excuse the language) hard, painful snot in my nostrils. Could this be sinus related also?

Maybe @tridacna is on to something….SSD.
