I'm curious what 'military spec dive propulsion vehicles designed to carry hundreds of pounds of equipment'.... Is that our standard scooters to the yellow press?

Only military grade not recreational ccr. Also, where did the term "militants" come from and what does it mean here? Where there any arrests of individuals who are known "bad guys"??
BTW, you think "bad guys" would get their people to go to the US of A to buy stuff for them that is readily available to buy very easily all over the world? You think that they are that stupid? You wouldn't think they would have a much better plan to buy it elsewhere where there is much less scrutiny? Come on people, wake the heck up!!

Whomever they are, they did buy the equipment from the US, paid to have it shipped to another facility, and then were arranging to ship it from that location to Libya. You'd think they would get their equipment from a closer and more direct source if they could.

If the quotes in that article are true.. then is sure seems like a reasonable person might reach out to the FBI on this, and not just play dumb and go for the sale.
You don't need Tom Clancy to figure out what they wanted to do with this gear. Having a kid currently serving on a Navy ship that would be considered a prime target, I am pretty offended by this.
Don't you wish a few flight instructors back before 2001 had raised a bigger "red flag"? ..when their students joked about not not being worried too much about landing.

Shipping to another location in the US is standard procedure, it is shipped to a shipping forwarder's address who will in turn arrange to ship to Libya or anywhere else in the world. This is how it is done for freight.
I would think so especially if they had sinister motives.
Living and knowing Libya especially these days, there is a probability that they were indeed going after submerged antiquities along the Libyan coast.
One would think that if the US Federal government had any sense or solid information that the buyers had real ties to terrorism, they would have arrested them immediately and not let them free for this long. I am not ruling out any possibilities, but it just doesn't make any sense now based on the information publicly available so far.
And that is??
