I've got one of these. They come in different colours which indicate the length of chord.

What can I say..........It's a cast aluminium spool. Yes it's negative, you drop it, it's gone and happy days winding up the chord.......it's aluminium after all. I use my double ended clip to hook the chord and the spool through one of the finger holes, which then locks the chord/spool and you can work hands free with it dangling in the water, very useful technique for your safety stops as you know the reel is locked at 5m-or whatever you need, and surprise surprise, the metal double ended clip makes everything even more negative-so this works with pretty much all spools, no need for an aluminium one.

Is it worth the extra money? Probably not. It's good quality, but how much quality do you need in a cast aluminium spool?

I have one too. Bought in the Philippines for half the price it sells for here in the US. I like it a lot. Easy to use and clip off. Really nicely constructed but I like new toys...which is what this is.

Btw, does anyone know what kind of LINE is used on those reels and is it possible to buy it somewhere in bulk? Like 100+m?

Cuz it is flat it can be rolled very compact on the reel compared to ordinary cave line. I would like to change line on my another delrin reel.

o_O Little high on themselves, aren't they with that price point? FWIW, I've been using those swivels for a few years. Any store with salt water fishing tackle has them, and they aren't subject to "Dive Store Premiums" in mark-up.

yeap, the reel is pretty high priced... i liked the swivel idea so went out and got some at local fishing store to put on my other "not so fancy" reel :)

line on the contrary... i could not find it. does anyone knows how is it called and/or where to get that flat line?

ps. btw, Chinese made a copycat with the same line and swivels, but just the HALF price or even less :p
tho they have only 15m and 30m models.

just go to any fishing gear store and buy swivel for fishing line :)
or order some on amazon/ebay.

i use this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Fish-Salt...qid=1499926148&sr=8-6&keywords=fishing+swivel

or if you need a stronger one:

The Apeks swivel is higher quality than either of those swivels. More like this …

Or these

well, the swivel is not the main feature in apeks reel. for me the deal was sealed when i saw that flat line. it is really much better then standard cave line. more compact and more easy to wind/unwind.

I agree. And the line is difficult to find.

The flat line makes the swivel necessary to reduce twisting …

And the Apeks swivel is not some ordinary fishing swivel (though they do the job).

For the line try a search for …

Flat 2mm Dupont Dacron HI-VIZ orange line

A bit pricey though.

Bought one of these. Have yet to try it in the water but my first impression is that it seems to be decent quality. Thanks for the link!
