Dive computer battery and o-ring spec's

Suunto ZOOP Novo and Vyper Novo

T6 Torx Screwdriver

Battery : One 3 V lithium battery; CR 2450 (K5597)

O-ring : size 026 o-ring, 1,78 mm x 31,47 mm Durometer 70 ShA (K5664)
Silicone Grease (very light)


Suunto Wireless Transmitter

Battery = CR 1/2 AA, 3v (Unusual Size, difficult to find)

O-ring = metric size 2mmX25mm (Durometer 70 ShA)

Wireless transmitter to 1st stage interface: O-ring size = 012, (Durometer 90 ShA)
NB 90 Shore because High Pressure
 
My questions is not limited to computers. I am looking to put together a save-a-dive kit (including O-rings for my computers). I am looking at the cost difference between the Buna-N O-rings and the Vitol O-rings. The price difference is negligible. Is there any danger in using Vitol O-rings versus Buna-N? Applications include battery door (2-023), tank rings, LP hose, etc. I am a Nitrox diver, but have a set of equipment dedicated to that purpose, so it should not have any bearing on this (separate save-a-dive kit, too). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
 
There are no disadvantages that I can think of other than price, which as you've pointed out is negligible. An advantage of using Viton or EPDM is the indefinite shelf life.

I understand that SUUNTO has just withdrawn their Wireless transmitter battery kits. Apparently they attribute the cause of the recent product recall of their Transmitters to Users over-tightening the screws when replacing the battery. Personally, I think a metal female thread insert moulded into the housing would have prevented the cracking issue.

So if you do DIY replace your transmitter battery, please remember its the O-Ring which seals the flange and do not over-tighten !
 
Are there any new additions to this post? I am looking for specs on an o ring for Oceanic OCi computer.
