This is a good point. Is there greater potential for entanglement with the vanes. Also, if the kelp (or other entangling material) gets caught up in the vanes, can they be torn out as the diver is working to get untangled?
This has been a concern of mine from day one. So far entanglement has been a fairly minor issue. I do hope to get these out in places such as kelp beds to see how they fare.

Most of the entanglement has occurred in the straps. Our production version will be more streamlined with less entanglement opportunities.

You represent a very small portion of the market.
I think that was my point. This seems like an odd crowd to pitch, when there are much bigger markets with divers much more willing to pick up the latest fad.

Also, believe me when I say, you don't want the mass of freshly minted divers wearing jet fins if you have to be around them.

Put them in non-silting fins, then let them decide if they want to pursue more "technical" activities.
I'm not really in charge of what freshly minted divers do. But I've seen brand new divers in Jet Fins—these were not especially coordinated people—and they didn't have any problems. Why would they?

This crowd is diverse, though the "tech" divers may be somewhat more vocal. This is probably the best place to target divers specifically.

Certainly, these fins are no fad. The creator is trying to drum up some interest.

THEY have no problems...it's those of us that have to follow them that do! Let them swim with fins that reduce silting with bicycle kicks...or whatever.

I'd like to try them. Willing to take a shot because of my knees, I've had to change first to Volos and now using Mares Xtremes. I'd like a little more power now and then. Just as you said, when fighting current and sometimes I need to rush over to someone for whatever reason and sometimes, I just want a better look at a creature swimming away from me. All that said, I can helicopter, etc. and as far as back up, I'm working on it but even as bad as mine is, it's still a bit better than your original model. Yes, she does indeed have good buoyancy.

I'm in Canada and soon to be in SE Asia diving Raja Ampat and then North Sulawesi. Perhaps, I'll hit a few other locales whilst in that part of the world, but as yet, nothing planned. I realize you don't have enough fins for your current testing purposes but if you change your mind, I'll be able to test them in quite the variety of dive environments and conditions.

Regardless, I'll be watching to see how they test out for others.

My mistake. I thought he was marketing them to tech divers. Weird that I might have had that impression.

The spinoff is the ablility to go faster since it is using less energy.

Can you provide real proof of this? I mean scientific proof not another video in a pool.

Science doesn't prove (except math), but have you ever seen a fin manufacturer do science to support the claims of the fin?

It kind of funny to ask that from a startup. I haven’t seen any proof on fins from any manufacturer. In any case, when regulator test show quantitative data for a machine those tests get bashed here. It appears no test whatsoever can appease the sb crowd. Give the man some credit for reaching out and trying to get fins onto people’s feet for trying.

Outrageous claims require a modicum of proof. Not a paper in Science.
