Just finished up my Asst. Instructor course and my Instr. is sending off my packet to HQ. My plan is to continue onto ERDI Instructor. I'm currently a PADI DM and SSI Dive Con Spec. but since SSI was bought out by Mares and they closed out most LDS I'm not currently active teaching status. I'm currently trained as a PSD and a team leader for the Search & Recovery team for my work as a Law Enforcement Officer in SWFL.
Looking forward to advancing through ERDI .

I am pretty much following the same path. Went with PADI up to AI through my local shop then planned on heading to Florida for the IDC and IE. I got hooked up with an ERDI instructor and he recommended going through SDI for my instructor rating. I ended up taking the SDI Instructor program and just passed my IE this week. Now waiting to hear how I need to progress through ERDI to get their instructor credential. I have been a PSD and team coordinator for my team for 17 years. We primarily used Dive Rescue International but once I found out about ERDI and talked to the team about it we decided to change to ERDI as our primary PSD training source. Good luck and stay safe.

Thanks for info Resqdivemedic, I was wondering about best way to further my path. It was suggested to you to do SDI Instr. first then crossover to ERDI? I was hoping that it's possible to do it from an AI level then crossover. I'll have to research further. The greatest advantage I have using SDI/TDI/ERDI is that their HQ is only about 3 hrs drive from home.

Be Safe,

I think it doesn't matter what training agency did your AI before going for instructor. I was PADI AI and was able to take the SDI Instructor. My instructor did say that it would be difficult to get the PADI Instructor because they make you do the whole IDC and IE.As far as crossing over to ERDI the prerequisite states you need to be a certified SDI Instructor or equivalent. I chose SDI because of the location of the IDC to me and I plan on teaching as an independent instructor. So as long as you have an instructor rating I think that would work to crossover to ERDI. No matter what training agency you choose they all have to follow the standards fro RSTC. I actually like the way SDI did things better than PADI as far as class organization and other requirements. Hope this helps. If you go to the ERDI SDI TDI web site the training standards are included in each of the course descriptions.

Thanks Resqdivemedic.... I went to SDI website and see that I can do a crossover but only Instr. to Instr or AI to AI. It doesn't look like I can do an SDI AI go to ERDI Instr I have to be a SDI first. But that's OK, I agree getting a PADI instr doing the whole IDC is not what I want to do. SDI HQ is about 3 hrs away and I can do it in a couple of weekends probably once I get all the academics out of way.

So this happened a few days ago....

J but since SSI was bought out by Mares and they closed out most LDS .

I had not heard that. SSI has historically been dive shop linked. The local shop I get fills at is SSI and they are still offering classs.
