I am glad to hear everyone on board is safe and well.
At the risk of seeming flippant and to quote a line from Ian fleming's Goldfinger "Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action."

If KathyV figure of 6 boats in 6 years is correct, then it is an anomaly at best.

There is not a lot of information available as the what happened or where it happened. The current itinerary has been taken off the web site. Assuming it was around Fiji, the Fiji Met Service weather chart fro 1700 yesterday does not show any severe weather other than thunderstorm activity around the Solomons.

Containers are a problem but I would be interested to know where FuAn gets his figure of "10thousands" worldwide floating around, The world shipping Council estimates that that an average of 1582 containers were lost at sea per year between 2008 and 2016 including catastrophic events such as the tragic loss of ElFaro.

Fiji does have a Maritime Safety Authority and if the vessel was Fijian flagged or the incident occurred in Fijian waters, i wouls assume some sort of investigation will take place.

Maybe they should start offering wreck dives on their own boats!
That reminds me of a dive instructor joke.

I just read that they lost another boat in 2011, the Indo Siren, so that makes 6 boats gone in 6 years! I give them a pass on the Truk Siren because that was in harbor during a typhoon and other boats also ran aground, and maybe even one more pass because they are a large fleet, but that still leaves 4 other boats lost. Geesh! Out of passes!

Gee I guess that was the "FAKE" Indo Siren I was on in 2012 & 2016
