Would it waste too much valuable internet space to have BOTH a Thumbs Down, (for warning about an LDS that tries to squeeze the unwary noob into too small a rental drysuit) AND a Whine and Cheese, (for complaining about non-business deal stuff, like the thread on bad grammar.).

Often people will not read an entire thread to get the facts, they only read headlines, which would not be fair to Pete in this case.

What if that some Pete is the poster? Is it fair to remove his post from the original thread to some garbage-bin of forums? What about that Pete's attempt to notify readers of a potential problem? What, he is now labeled as a whiner and fussy?

If you feel like people just read the titles, let us remove them. What is the problem? Title-less forums, imagine how fair they would be! Let us do that! No? You will still enable people to read just titles then complain about unfairness of it? If titles are a problem, let us remove titles. If people are a problem... then it is not titles, is it?

However, if someone Googles Pete, because of how high our search rankings are, it is almost guaranteed that that thread will come up.

And? There are probably other threads showing how good that some Pete is. If say 80% of topic how a Pete continues to thieve, maybe readers do have a choice to make their own mind. You act like a kindergarten teacher, filtering information from the kids, what they should know and what they should not. Let people be their own judge. You are gaming google search results, you are gaming peoples' perceptions. What if that Pete is a real thief? Say people try to inform but their topics continue to be moved to the purgatory of topics? This means that people continue to do business with Pete and continue to be ripped off, simply because that forum had all warnings removed.

Case in point: TripAdvisor removed reports of rapes and assaults at Mexico resorts, report says - The Boston Globe

PS: If you feel like critiquing businesses is a sore point and an unwanted practice that would rather not be supported by SB, put that into the terms and conditions, users are not allowed to express any regret or critique of private individuals or businesses. Let us solidify this.

I couldn't assemble enough support to put out a fire in a trash can...
You should start a thread about that. Can't think where you would put it, though....

Oooooh! Now THERE is an idea!!!

I present exhibit A to the court of appeals: Smiley Problem? You have to be a signed-in member to see that. No lurkers, no guests...

As I recall, there was almost no modding in that forum except when a mod would have had enough, remover his/her hat, and join the fray.
