The origins of Scuba Pro: Healthways Scuba.

I didn't see anything wrong with the original article on California Diver; the information was accurate and is publicly available on many sites (including Wikipedia). I seriously doubt any information was proprietary or used inappropriately or without Sam Miller's permission; it is all publicly available on many other sites.

I've emailed California Diver and asked them to make it live again, as written, as it was a very interesting and informative article. I would also encourage Sam Miller to handle this differently in the future.

I wish I had copied the original article - I would gladly post it here for everyone's enjoyment.

My first set was a healthways in the late 60's. steel 72 was 50$ single hose reg 50$. full 1/4 wet suit 50$ backboard i dont remember but probably 15 +/-. 200$ I was fully kitted out.

I would have expected no less from one who has a world class collection-- now there are THREE known Healthways /SCUBA Pro white catalogs-- very rare documents. so rare that the current officials of SCUBA Pro denies that they ever existed -- ( lets all revise diving history ! and be uninformed as several of the previous posters have expressed their total ignorance of Heathway's and diving history )

Can you scan the cover and post the image? That would set the deniers straight and thousands of us would get to see it. Most local copy shops can scan the whole catalog into a .pdf/Acrobat file if you want to share.

The equipment is all rebranded Healthways equipment
Nothing extraordinary ...

Thank you Sam, very kind words. Yes, it's been a very long time, about 25 years! You gave me my start into vintage scuba after hearing your lecture back at the Sport Chalet dive club in the late 80's. Stuff that I will never forget. People taking golf flag poles to make pole spears & putting flashlights inside condoms to make them waterproof!
You photocopied me practically every US Divers catalog back then and even though I have all the original ones now, I have retained every single piece of paper you gave me from back then. I still refer to them today, because all the notes that you wrote in them about who was who and what was what is such valuable information.
I think the last time we talked was when I was working at Sport Chalet Scuba Repair in Montclair back in the 90's. By the way, I bought out the remaining inventory of Al Thompson's Pro Scuba Repair inventory that Sport Chalet bought from him.
Great reconnecting with you Sam. Next time I get up to your area, I'll let you know. Would be great to stop by and chat.

Since we are talking about Scubapro, I have a catalog and price list from one of their divisions in 1968.
