Hi Max,

SoCal diving including the Channel Islands is incredible and worthy of publishing pictures. The cold water is actually a blessing. Could you imagine how overrun the dive sites would be without the cool/cold water? I have not dived RPV. But I lived there for years.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula is a treasure trove of diving. Some sites have way more invertebrate life than you will ever see at the Channel Islands. If we had the visibility of the islands around P.V. nobody would ever go to the islands again.

50% social,
25% hunting/gathering
25% learning new things
100% relaxing.

Self employed and working from home. I rarely think about work when diving.

High Bert,

Do you relax more when solo, or buddy diving? Or does it matter?

thanks,
markm

Hi Max,

We were diving St. Croix a few years back. A tech diver from the Puget Sound was asked where his favorite dive spot was. He said SoCal and the Channel Islands. I was a little taken-aback by his answer. But then, I thought about the u/w diversity, dive culture, and dive ops and tend to agree with him.

Mark, I’ve seen many of Max’s photos and they are pretty phenomenal.

Hi Mark,

Much more relaxed when solo diving. Reason is I've been diving for 49 years and almost always feel responsible for buddy's safety since buddy will not have the same amount of experience.

I dive to justify the time and expense I invested in gear and training in 1989.
Ok, that was my smart a$$ answer. :) no offense.

Actually I'm 100% social diver. Love the entire experience, including making new friends and seeing old friends again.

Hi Insta-Gator,

I actually liked your first response. I guess it takes a smart-ass to enjoy a smart-ass!

100% social diver...I did not see that one coming. Do you have other avocations where your interest is 100% social?

thanks,
markm
