Apeks DST - several generations?

Hi,

I am looking at getting a second DST for twins and got an offer to buy a second hand for $100, but it looks different than mine. The metal wheel looks weird on this one, so I am beginning to wonder if there are several different generations or such of the DST?

Do you think $100 for a DST is a fair price if it needs servicing?

there are at least two generations, one of which has a 1/2" regulator port that is particularly annoying. I'm not sure the hand wheels are indicative of generation.

The DIN wheels can be different although I'm not sure why, I've got several DST's, over several years. $100 is very good, so a completely overhauled DST for $200......yes, very good.

that is the older handwheel from the tx or atx. you can see the 1/2 inch reg hose being included. functionally, it works just the same other than the 1/2 inch port being mildly annoying.

You can also add a 5th port by replacing the turret retaining bolt.

All my ancient Apeks(DS4 and DST) have the same kind of wheel. ATX series definitely used different DIN wheel.
The internal is the same.
The age of the reg is not important but the state of the orifice is critical. I would like to check the orifice if buying used Apeks except the FSR. However, highly unlikely that the seller will let you stripping down the HP section.

I've got several DST's, over several years. $100 is very good, so a completely overhauled DST for $200......yes, very good.

A New 5-port DST is €209 (€185 for the 4 port version) in a German online store, and shipping to Sweden is around €10. This price includes all taxes. ($272 with todays exchange rate for the new 5-port version, last year before euro started getting stronger it was much less in USD while Apeks prices in EUR have not changed).

Servicing a single 1. stage in a good shop costs in the range of €80. So you easily end up paying pretty close to new price if you have to take your $100/€80 used regulator to a shop for service.

If you service the regulator yourself (1.st stage service kit is €28), a $100/€80 used regulator can be a good deal.

All is not lost, with a bit of time, care and effort it is possible to refurbish a damaged fixed orifice. Not me but someone I know did this.

ahh I love my Poseidons where you can polish the bullet which is what does the sealing. No sharp seats to worry about
