Can anyone provide any updated information on restaurants that serve lionfish? I've had it at La Perlita before. Are they still serving? Any other places or ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I really wish there were but it is getting harder and harder to find the delicious little demons. We have even cleaned out the near north and we have to go further and further to get my ceviche.

Getting real hard to find:

La Perlita when they can get it. Lion fish ceviche with Mango, coconut crusted lionfish, and garlic grilled lionfish. It's all fan-damn-tastic. You might call first and make sure they have some, or go early. If they don't, the garlic grilled lobster will have you going back for more. There was a restaurant just North of Mega that had lionfish as well...it was good, but not memorable. Maybe across from Barracuda or Rock n Java? In that area anyway.

LP is a come as you are place, East of downtown quiet a ways. We take a cab.

Don't miss La Perlita whether they have LF or not.

Safe travels,
Jay

Again check first but when they can get it Sal de Mar has it on the menu and while they are not cheap they are very good

Thanks for the ideas, all. I've never been to Sal de Mar, so will definitely take a look.

I'm getting hungry just reading this!

I add my voice for Sal De Mar. IT is a little known sleeper…great steaks as well.

Then there is always plan B... Find a seldom visited section of the wall, drop down to 130' -150' and pop one with a sling. Then carefully trim the barbs w/o getting stuck and bring it back up and take it to the restaurant of your choice.:fear:

Kondesa has a lionfish cake appetizer that's very good.

The place that used to be the French Quarter (name escapes me) has a great chef that can prepare some great Pez Leon dishes. It is not on the menu. You have to bring you own fish but we had some great dishes that included ceviche, cajun, plain baked and the coconut mango. It was all good. Make sure you call ahead though. Not all of the chefs there know whats what with the lionfish.
