I can get a Hollis TX-1 on eBay for about $350.00. Would this be a good deal? And would it be a good backup to my Perdix AI? Thoughts...

short answer no.
long answer, is yes I do technically have a Nitek Q that is a backup computer, but it was given to me and doesn't come in the water with me. I also will take my Perdix AI with me when I dive my rebreather, but only so I have the AI function. Most guys I know won't bring a backup with them unless it's a monster size dive

I met a tech diver on a boat once. I asked him why he had two of everything (shears, computers, you name it). His reply was, "Two is one and one is none." Sounded pretty safe to me. I would hate to end a dive because my computer futzed out.

doesn't mean I don't carry tables and/or know how to use ratio deco, but I don't use redundant computers under "normal" dive circumstances. Controversial? to some, but it works for me and most all of the people that I dive with. That said, you have one of the most reliable if not the most reliable computers ever built. Odds of it failing? pretty much negligible
I always carry a primary and backup computer. So does my girlfriend. Both air integrated and synced to the same tank transmitter. I also keep a spare transmitter in my dive tools kit.
Why? Because it's worth the cost of the second computer to minimize the possibility of a lost dive or 2 or perhaps an entire dive vacation being affected.
Electronics fail, battery compartments flood.
It happens. Considering the amount of money spent on dive gear and dive vacations the security of a second dive computer is a relatively small amount of money well spent.
Never needed the backup transmitter but between my girlfriend and myself we had 2 computers flood over the course of 5+ years, about 150 combined dives.

all this talk of redundancy, yet no one seems to buy into my recommendation of buying a doubles regulator set instead of singles so you have a spare first stage on the dive boat for the same reason with talks of "global service".... curious

Yes, the Hollis TX1 will work with the PPS transmitter you use for your Perdix AI, see post #6 Are Pressure Transmitters compatible across brands?
The TX1 could be a good backup for your Perdix. It runs the same deco algorithm, Buhlmann ZH-L16C with GF. The TX1 has 5 preset GFs and allows custom GFs to a maximum of 90. It might be a bit more conservative if you are running a GF hi of 95 on your Perdix, other than that, you should be able to match your Peridix GFs.
I believe @stuartv had a TX1 for a while, he might be able to answer questions
