Poseiden and Amphitrite? Maybe @Shearwater will fill us in
It's Neptune and Terica. They used to be regular divers until they started using the Teric. After diving with the Teric they dove so much that Terica grew scales and, her skin developed a greenish hue that camouflaged her in the emerald green waters of Howe Sound. Now with her enhanced aquatic vision she is able to identify marine life from afar and in low light conditions and approaches without disturbing them.

Neptune was a regular dude, but, again, stumbled upon a Teric and ended up diving way too much. He developed abilities that would put Aquaman to shame. Lately he's had some issues with the Kraken not wanting to submit to his authorité. So Neptune's gonna show the Kraken, who's the boss.

This computer looks great.
@Shearwater, it seems the watch does not do dual time zone (local time, and home time), any plan to have this in a next release ?

The marketing wank really weirds me out. I guess that’s a part of the game at this point though? I dunno, I just always saw Shearwater as being above the wanky stuff. All it needs is a dude dressed in camouflage with a machine gun and night vision goggles on in the middle of the day and they’ll have gone full Magpul.

Looks like a nice piece of gear though, not enough to get me to sell my other Shearwater stuff, but if I were looking for the Shearwster architecture in a smaller package, this would be it.

It looks like it would be a nice backup to one of their larger offerings for technical diving. In this form/offering that’s where it’s best suited IMHO.

TBh I would have liked to have seen a cheaper rec version. It’s a tough sell for a new diver. I know several that didn’t want a Perdix because it was expensive, “large,” and they wouldn’t ever use the technical features. I would have thought a watch-sized rec computer would have been the low priced entry that got Shearwater to the masses, not just a Perdix in a different form factor.

And what’s with the OP making the product release announcement instead of Shearwater? Seems strange since the website wasn’t even up for launch. At least it wasn’t when I first saw this thread.

The Teric was built with a robust hardware framework that'll allow us plenty room for growth via firmware updates. We cannot promise to implement every feature request or suggestion, but we definitely consider them all. I have logged in your multiple time zone as a feature request. It is user input like this that helps us make better products. Thanks for the input.

I hate you shearwater.... I really hate you!

Now...

@tcoen, thank you for the video. It looks like the user interface is well thought out and intuitive. Good job!

Question: in the info row, you can choose 2 or 3 values. Let's say you have Tissues, and Stopwatch. Can you still have a third value like the combined T1/GTR?

Beaver dam it! Just when I thought it was safe to look at the interwebs again, the Wizard Of Shearwater pulled another rabbit out of his tuque.

My initial impression of the Teric was that it sure looked elegant, and my first reading of the specs indicated that it was an even more capable unit than my Predator, Petrel, Perdix, and Perdix AI, though in a much smaller form factor, but certainly not anything that I should rush out and buy.

I presumed that the data displays would not be nearly large enough for my aging eyes to see clearly. Then I watched one of the Shearwater videos which showed a Teric side by side with a Perdix, and the numerals were of a similar size and very easy to read.

Then the wheels and cogs in my head started to grind and turn: “Hey dummy,” I told myself; “you don’t have a great redundant computer when you dive your rebreather. You’ve run out of space on your skinny forearms as they already are covered with a slate, controller, watch, Predator, and compass.” I could replace the watch and compass with a Teric, and should the Teric prove as reliable as my other Shearwaters, keep my Perdix AI as my primary OC computer, use the Teric as a redundant unit, and make a gift of my current backup Perdix to my son.

The only specific aspect of the Teric that does not thrill me is the estimated battery life between charges. I ALWAYS wear a watch, so will not really be able to replace my regular timepieces with the Teric for daily wear, and I’ve come to relish the ability to quickly change the batteries in my Shearwaters in the field. According to the Shearwater specs, it will take about 90 minutes to recharge a Teric.

On another thread on theses forums I wrote about my complete satisfaction with my Shearwater computers, and the service I received on the lone occasion when I required assistance, and stated that I could not foresee wanting or needing anything that they did not already make. I wrote that within the last 6 months, and now have to eat my words as the aforementioned Wizard has introduced another product that while I don’t really need, could most certainly be put to very good use, and that I want.

I’m within 20 miles of several Shearwater dealers, (most of whose owners children I’m responsible for feeding, clothing, and educating as a result of my patronage), and at least one of them is going to get a call asking to be informed when Terics are in stock.

Well, for once in my life a little procrastination has paid off. I'm in the midst of taking some Tech refresher training; was trying to figure out what to do about a backup OC trimix tech computer (to my non-AI Perdix); watched this thread all day yesterday plus the SW website plus YouTube videos. The need to recharge basically every night with access to enough power for the charger concerns me a little bit, but my dive adventures these days are much "more comfortable" and "less rustic" than they were in my youth. It is expensive, but I have already basically blown any concept of a budget, so I'm in line now for when Shearwater actually ships them to the dealers.
