Hi all, interested in trying out a "pee valve" in a wetsuit due to concerns about rashes, and a general unwillingness to pee in my wetsuit

Saw in some threads that some of you have seen divers routing pee tubes (attached to condom catheter on one end) down the leg of the wetsuit, with the other end peeking out from the wetsuit leg seal.

Wondering how does the routing inside the wetsuit work? Is the tube attached to the wetsuit leg in some way? If so, is it preferable to route it down the inside, outside or front of the leg? How to avoid kinking of the tube if attaching the tube this way?

Any other opinions or ideas on routing a simple pee tube through the wetsuit would be appreciated too (though I much prefer to not make holes on my wetsuit if possible)

Thanks in advance!

I'm not aware of ever seeing a pee valve on a wetsuit, but that's not to say someone has done this, perhaps on a semi dry.

It would be fairly simple to use a condom catheter (for guys) and route some tubing down one leg and hope that the seal at the ankle of the wetsuit doesn't compress the opening too much to cause a blockage and possibly leading to other issues.

You could route the tubing up the torso and out of a wetsuit sleeve if you so wished, be a bit gross, but hey everyone to there own thing.

I can't see how you can install it on a snug fitting wetsuit. It will most likely get crush under the tightness of the suit and probably get ripped out of place when putting the suit on.

The dive guides at Lembeh Resort have custom made suits with a zipped fly opening to allow bladder contents to exit without traveling down your leg.

if you use norprene tubing like we use in most drysuits you aren't going to crush it with the wetsuit. The drysuits are under similar compression from the vacuum and that's why we use hose rated for vacuum suction. Better to just get a cheap unbalance p-valve and punch a hole in the "normal" spot. Problem with running it down the leg is trying to keep it in the right position when you don the suit if it fits properly

I've heard of pee valves done on semidry suits. Not enough waterflow to flush the suit. I recall seeing one for sale once (ebay?). But have never seen them used in the wild.

This is what I have for my wetsuit. Quite common in NZ. Basically a tapered neoprene tube in the crotch area of the suit that flattens on the end to seal. Only works on two piece suits though.

The process of using is: Make sure everything is located properly before the dive (can't wear anything under suit, old mate slips into the tube). When you need to go either on the surface or underwater undo beavertail of the suit to expose the tube, press around base of tube to make a good seal and let it flow.

Worked pretty well for me so far. We call it a "scupper"

Just buy a regular pee valve and run it like normal. Easy, inexpensive, time tested.
