Yes, but the young folks on the Club Med boat were lugging all the gear, filling the tanks, and providing other services. At some point in a life, driving along a beach and lugging gear becomes more work than the reward.

I'm spoiled by thousands of liveaboard dives. I've never desired to go to Bonaire.

I can’t agree more. We went to Bonaire once. No desire to go back. I always tell everyone I’m a lazy diver. I much prefer boat diving over lugging all that gear around and shore entries.

Got back last week and was buried with work. I will write up a much more detailed report with pics and videos in a week or so.
We had a great time. 14 divers at the resort. included a group from Chattanooga, TN and a very nice Scubaboard couple from
my home state or Texas. The rooms were simple and very clean, I enjoyed the food all week and had no complaints.
Guanahani divers is a great operation with very good people. The diving was VERY good, nice reefs, great walls, lots of different
types of terrain and sites...and best of all lots of sharks. All the Bahamians and staff were VERY friendly and helpful.

I am a mosquito magnet and I had to use bug spray once the sun went down.

More details later.....

If you don't like shore diving in Bonaire there is no reason not to do boat diving instead. No matter how many people here speak against it, it's allowed. And it's even relatively cheap there. (We haven't gone there in ages partly because we find it sort of boring and like other places better, but that's a different issue.)

Agree with GAFUN. The rooms at RRI are 'basic' but they are clean. Food was good, no one complained about it. Staffs are very accommodating. As for the Guanahani Dive operation - Tyler and Betsy run it well and I won't have second thoughts diving with them. Tyler's pre-dive orientations are very interesting, detailed, and on the mark. Betsy is a great sport and critter finder. One can see how much she enjoys her profession.

Shore diving isn’t the only reason I don’t desire to go back. I wasn’t that impressed with the dives sites either. There are too many places where I enjoy the diving better that are easier/cheaper to get to. We did do some boat dives on Klein which I liked better than Bonaire but enough to return.

Very interested to hear more about your SS trip and RR... I am the trip planner/researcher and husband is the diver. A friend returned last week from 10 days in SS (non diver) and checked out Riding Rock for me... I am now very interested in staying next door at The Sands (anyone have any info???) but still using the dive group at RR for diving- maybe this time next year. I would love to know if you recent visitors had any experience with the Sands or the tiki bar/restaurant there as I am the non-diver who will be hanging out during the dives.... seems nice to have a full unit with kitchen, living area, bedroom, bath, etc instead of just a hotel room at Riding Rock. THanks for any feedback....

We did not go out to explore, so, cannot tell you about The Sands. We did went by Club Med. Looks nice and seems like rgwew are plenty to do for non-divers. Riding Rock Inn is a 'no frills' place. The restaurant served good food. Dive operation (Guanahani) is superb.

I received info about this DEMA special being offered for Riding Rock Inn but I don't know how it compares to their usual pricing and it there are any additional fees or taxes added.
