Sorry to bump this old thread. Are there many shore diving areas that are deep enough to even make doubles really worth it (assuming light deco)? Given that picking up/dropping off single tanks is so convenient

Yes. 200 ft, even 400+ ft is available as a shore dive. 150 in front of Buddy Dive is easy. Lots of Sand Tilefish, and big Lionfish.

Hmm that might change things for me then. I’d rather always be diving doubles instead of singles anyway. maybe will bring my tech stuff down instead of my single tank vacation gear. Will have to send them an email.

What @tursiops said. Both Buddy and Captain Don's Habitat have tech diving stuff. Single tank shore diving is so darn easy and convenient though.

I easily did 140 at Bari Reef, gorgeous field of Garden Eels. I did not have long to explore, it would have been fun.

I wish there was a facility to rent tiny doubles in Bonaire. Recently I've been using them (twin LP50s) and adore them so much, I got a second set. Not too heavy, balance well and love the redundancy.

For most of my dives in Bonaire, slinging a second tank costs a few pounds in my suitcase for the regs and bands (and nothing else)

When I am doing Tech dives, Mr G is the best.

I've brought my sidemount rig before, but a single+slung 80 is simpler (and safer IMO)
