PADI - No (full) cave certification

Is there any reason of why PADI doesn't have a full cave certification in its didactic?
They offer TEC (someway) courses, even reb.. but no cave (but only cavern).
Is there any specific reason for this choice?

It can be taught as a Distinctive Speciality.

I believe they still offer it.

You would need an instructor training program to teach full cave so this needs another level of people that are not there. It would be via DSAT

It is a Distinctive Specialty.....approved by PADI but not offered by PADI. There are MANY Distinctive Specialization not listed on the PADI website.

I'm missing your point: why do you want a PADI Cave course? Anyone who can teach it is already a Full Cave instructor with some other agency, so just take the course from that other agency....you can have the same instructor and probably get a card that is more readily recognized.

Most instructors who own a full cave instructor cert from an agency like IANTD/PSAI/TDI/NSS/Etc. are probably going to be instructors who teach full cave on a regular basis. I'm not sure someone who has a PADI cave instructor card is going to be teaching cave classes on a regular basis, and the ones that do, probably teach for other agencies as well, in which case why the desire for a PADI card?

As the W3 shows the instructor has to be a cave instructor. That means they are a cave instructor with another agency. DSAT lets them teach under the DSAT banner. Since that person is (for example) IANTD Cave Instructor, why bother with the DSAT route - just teach the IANTD route.

PADI makes it's money from manuals and course fees and centres make their money from instructor training. This is too specialist and too small a market. If I were cynical I might think this is just to bring the PADI Cavern into the mainstream and gain recognition.

PADI does a great job of getting new people into diving and provides good basic training. Once you have done that there are lots more options going forward. No idea why anyone would want to do a PADI/DSAT cave course if I am honest.

Pretty much all the PADI cave instructors are mostly independent and do not work for typical dive shops. PADI does not make any money from a PADI cave certification, since it does not have official instructional materials to sell. Its only income as an agency for the course is the fee for sending the student a card.

I have the PADI cave certification. I took the NSS-CDS course. When I was done with it, my instructor said that the PADI cave course requirements were the same--would I like that certification as well? I thought, what the heck? May as well.

I don't know all the PADI cave instructors, but the ones I do know are all extremely active and highly experienced cave instructors.

BTW, PADI did offer cave instruction as a regular part of its instructional program decades ago. It was created and supervised by Sheck Exley. They dropped it when they decided it was too dangerous.
