I'm probably in the minority, but I don't get worked up over what the press calls our scuba cylinders or what's in them. Divers know what they are.
The general public doesn't care and moreover won't comprehend the different gasses that might be in them.

In the case of the diverse tanks being used in rescuing the boys, I'm guessing some of them contain air and some nitrox. And some likely contain pure oxygen, as reported correctly or incorrectly by the press. From a lay point of view they all contain oxygen (in some percentage or another).

I agree with this. No one cares except the divers and there are a very small percentage of us compared to all who are watching the news.

Indeed. Obviously you get into this thread late in the game. I posted the same video yesterday on post 372, page 38.
I've been following the thread and missed the first posting so no harm in a little redundancy (you see what I did there nyuk nyuk) I would have missed bird man otherwise.

Oh brother. Now Trump is trying to take some credit.
Donald J Trump tweets:
The U.S. is working very closely with the Government of Thailand to help get all of the children out of the cave and to safety. Very brave and talented people!

I actually had someone ask me today if I used O2 when diving and if it was not dangerous (likely to cause a fire/explosion). I did explain to him that gas mixes used in scuba while sometimes containing higher 02 concentration than air it's far from pure 02)

I'm sure very, very, very closely. I hope he doesn't deplete our strategic exclamation point reserve with all of that twitterifing.

I’m sure no one will ask me that. That person was “in the know”. :p

USAF pararescue and SERE school instructor cadre were some of the first non-Thai on site, among other US military personnel. They've also been providing logistical and materiel support. Sure, they're none of the rescue divers, but there's a hell of a lot more going on than just the dudes diving in the cave.

The US and Thai militaries are very close, the largest military exercise in ASia-Pacific, Cobra Gold, is held in Thailand every year.

What ol' Donald said is absolutely true, factually accurate. Whether you consider that try to take credit or not is up to you, but his statement is accurate.
