Peeing in your dry suit mid dive

There are a few old posts about this but the links don’t work so I’m starting a new one.

I’ve recently bought the missus a dry suit but the problem is that she always needs to pee about halfway through her dive which obviously is going to be an issue. It’s bad enough in her semi-dry .

She has a she-wee for hiking that I was thinking we could use if I rig up a hose and external valve. However this is one of those tight fitting neoprene drysuits so there is not a lot of room to work with and I suspect whatever I did would get uncomfortable.

How are you female drysuit divers getting around these issues?

I will start off by saying I'm a dude, but I have a Pee Valve and DRIS did it for me. They have experience with the Woman's Pee Valve.

If I'm not mistaken, a "she-wee" is different from the product that most women I know use with their drysuits: She-P. My wife says they even have a Facebook page where women discuss their trials and tribulations with it.

Have yet to use a Dry Suit but don't most ppl just pee in their wet suit? I thought this was common practice. That's what my Dive Instructor who certified me in Open, Adv & Rescue said.

There's a substantial difference between peeing in a wetsuit (gross) and peeing in a drysuit (super gross). Peeing in a drysuit just turns it into a ziploc bag full of pee.....

Yes, I understand that but wasn't the OP abt peeing in a wetsuit which haven't we all done at sometime or another? And, from a biological standpoint, women usually have to pee more than men, especially as we age, so get over it. Don't u know that all those fish and mammals are peeing AND Pooping in the ocean all the time?!!? Lol plus, u swallow some of it sometimes. Now R U really grossed out? Grow up, we're not children. Everyone pees.

You dive in the ocean?! Don't you know what fish do in the ocean?!

OP said drysuit.

I also refuse to grow up. When you grow up you start to get uppity on forums and such.

For a one hour dive it is easier to hold it. For a longer dive, your options are either diapers or a she-p. Some info on how to use the latter here: FAQ.

It's a useful tool, but there is a bit of a learning curve associated with it. It will be uncomfortable and/or leaky if not attached properly. And it takes a few tries to get it right.

I'd highly recommend the Divine Secrets of the She-P Sisterhood group on Facebook if she decides to give it a try. Lots of helpful advice from other She-P users there.

I'm not female, but there is some science behind eating a salty snack (e.g. a snack bag of potato chips) before diving.
