Hi
Has anyone here dived in either of the 3 rivers here in Pittsburgh, PA USA?

How was it it? And advice for where to dive in the rivers?

Thanks!

I have heard of people doing it... to recover bodies.

That's about it. I have boated on the river for many years.

Visibility is poor under the best of circumstances. The deepest part in the Pittsburgh area is just off of the Point - about 30FFW. The average is under 20FFW and that is only at the deepest part of the channel. Obviously, you'd need to stay out of there due to the high volume of river traffic. It's extremely shallow nearer the shoreline with a lot of entanglement danger.

I wouldn't recommend it.

There is a cut just north of Fox Chapel Marina - Even on a "Good" day, it was Zero viz. There are a ton of trash in the rivers as well - we picked up a large contractor bag in our prop last year - some old rusty wire on our anchor. You are blind and in a trash field. There are better places to dive.
