Ok, so I used to be a shopaholic. Luxury cars, fancy dinners, luxury handbags, shoes, clothing, etc. I spared no expense to be a princess.

I have given all that up so I can afford more dive trips to more exotic locations. I have lost friends because I no longer want to fly to Paris or NYC to shop. I have lost other friends because I no longer want to spend money to eat fancy dinners and stay at fancy hotels. I don’t have any friends left!

Weekends.

Dogbowl, sounds similar to my story, though I wasn't going to Paris and New York on the weekends.

Many of my friendships have suffered though I also have new friends that I've met through diving. They are lovely and we understand one another but it takes a lifetime to make long time friends. Unfortunately, it doesn't take near as long for longtime friendships to wither due to neglect because of the diving and/or the change in mutual interests.

My car club thought i moved away until i showed up with a trunk full of gear at our beach meet up one morning.. I said hey to everyone, looked at some of the other cars, walked back to my car and geared up and waived bye to everyone.. I too gave up shopping (my girl at neimans misses me), my yard looks neglected and my car is always dirty and full of sand since i started diving. Fortunately my two closest non dive friends live across the street so that works out.

My shooting hobby is now off season. I’ve sold gun stuff to fund diving gear purchases.

I’ve given up sleep.. Have to get up at 4-4:30 for the dive boat or quarry.
