Hi,

Has anyone used Gentle Giant liveaboard? They only have 1 review on liveaboard.com and I can't find much information about them online (no tripadvisor page, etc). But at least the 1 review is 10/10...

They do a 6 days / 5 nights trip with 18 dives. They are the only liveaboard I could find that goes to both Similians/Richelieu AND Hin Daeng/Hin Muang. It's our first time back in Thailand since we did our DSD there and we want to cover both north and south. Doing 2 trips on Giamani is the only other option I found that goes to both north and south but cost of both trips is over double Gentle Giant, for only 3 more dives.

The boat looks nice I'm mostly looking to see if there's anything I should be concerned about with quality of dive guides, food, etc.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I have checked our information about Gentle Giant and they provide a range of food for different dietary requirements, plus both local and western food.

Would you like me to introduce you to one of our reservation agents? They'll be able to tell you more about the vessel and answer any concerns you may have. We're all passionate divers here and more than happy to help with queries.

If you send me your email address, I'll put you in touch.

Thanks,

Kathryn

note that Similans and Hin Daeng/Muang are closed til October

Funny that one.

The boat was for a little bit run as a daytrip boat for Chinese, without much success, and see they have now made it a liveaboard. I wondered what happened, and now I know, thanks.

Beware, just as quite a few others do they sell it as 6 days/5 nights, but it is only 5 diving days. Agree with you the total package looks attractive, before booking I would make sure about other guests on the trip you're looking at.

Hi, I'm looking at the gentle giant and wondering whether you ended up booking with them and if so, what your experience was like. Will you kindly advise? Thanks

My earlier comments are the same: "Beware, just as quite a few others do they sell it as 6 days/5 nights, but it is only 5 diving days. Agree with you the total package looks attractive, before booking I would make sure about other guests on the trip you're looking at."
The latter especially since the customers will be predominantly Chinese.

I did, and we enjoyed the trip. Good guides, boat was pretty new, food was GREAT, 3-4 dives a day with good variety (but a bit crowded). Would recommend and I would book with them again next time I dive Thailand.

It was a full boat when I went, 20 people among 4 guides, about half was mainland Chinese, a quarter was a French family, and rest was a mix. The Chinese group kept mostly to themselves and was a bit loud but was no more obnoxious than any typical American or Australian frat group. 2 of the guides spoke pretty good English and briefings are done in both Chinese and English. You are in Asia so any place you go the predominant customers will be mainland Chinese or Korean so the ownership of the boat doesn't really make that big of a difference.

I wrote a pretty detailed review on liveaboard.com

And to add, we were looking at Giamani as our main alternative, that was the only other boat we saw that went to Hin Deang/Hin Meang as well, and we saw that boat at most of the same dive sites, so definitely think Gentle Giant is better value than doing 2 trips on Giamani

My husband rented his equipment from the boat as well and had no issues, it's not super new but it works.
