A while back I suggested SPP...

Submersible porta potty.

When I did my first PADI course , my instrcuctor told me BWARF - Brazilian Women Are Really Fun.

Instead of using "BWRAF" my dive club uses " I Will Be A OK"

I= Inflators/ Dump Valves
Will= Weights
Be= Buckles
A= Air
OK= Final OK

Much easier to remember!

BWRAF....

My wife, showed me a thread on the Girls that Scuba FB group.

Some of the girl's BWRAF "suggestions" were hilarious - if of very adult nature

My favs which stick in my mind...

Before W******g Reconsider A F**K

Big / Blonde / Brunette Women Relish A*** F******

You need the right students to tell those ones too ....

Frankensteining this thread… (TLDR but i did search) i have found one SCUBA Diving Acronym that just lately has baffled even “the all-knowing Porpoise” (SB denizens are left to decode that reference)

I use it all the time, for it is what i truly have become:

WWPF - Warm Water Pretty Fish

With that aforementioned search, it seems that i am the chief user of the verbiage, but it’s not my creation. I define it as: well, pretty obvious…

Range

Almost exclusively AI environments, Endemic to Tropical / Sub Tropical, waters, Often found in mated pairs. Find heavy localized but transitory populations near u/w structures that feature cruise ship ports (see wikiscuba Pod People) or islands settled by Club Dread facilities

Outside appearance:

An alu80, jacket BCD, bathing suit mostly, maybe a polarfleece or 2mil, no snorkel, a Puck, not a flipper snob proselytizer, use whatever- full foot, splits, Bob Evans if they married well. Some occasional tinted faceplates. Same appearance for juveniles to terminal phase.

(That above list might be inadvertently adopted by a Noob, Pod Person, or over a longer lifetime of wearing 5/8” wetsuits)

In hand is usually a camera, but gone beyond the GoPro affectation. They change clothing for meals.

“Advanced WWPF”: (not a PADI card!) The knowing of the minimum simple gear inspection so that they’re ok with rental. Seeking reliably 82 degree water (it exists in the Caribbean, do not doubt this). Gotten away (bored?) from cameras, switched to magnifying glass and flashlight. C-cards here someplace, i guess, They likely wear sock booties (and/or rash guard) to lunch, Stuff like that.

WWPF Diver’s tattoos may include Juvenile Drums, Sea Horses, Mermaids (not Sharks, baby or scary sharky-sharks) but look for common gang style neck tatts of: Too old to be cold

Usage:

Oh Waldo? Oh him? He’s one of those WWPF Divers. Harrumph!

It is often used as a derogatory, i accept the monicker as a simple descriptor of my standard gear set and to some extent, my dive profiles.

Author’s Personal Internalized View:

I also see it, if literally applied, that i have reached the level of competence that allows me the ability to actually see the critters and that next step: observing in detail critter behavior.

I am proudly WWPF. Maybe even Double Secret WWPF.
