Yup Da Cave.

We scootered Devil's and did the insulation room. Crazy thing is I think I saw more detail in the cave scootering on 30/30 than I ever did going dirt slow swimming on 32%. My wife actually laughed and said she had always understood why they called it the park bench, but with a clear head it really looked like a park bench. It was an odd experience seeing someplace you've been a ton in a completely different light. I've been told that helium makes a difference. This was the first time the difference was significant.

It's an expensive gas, with which to charge your tanks on a regular basis. To 100ft, I'll primarily use 32%. However, when I know the dive is going to task load, meaning surveys or specific objectives, then I'll use 30/30. If I were filthy rich, I would use nothing but to 30/30 in the 70-100ft range. Have dealt with narcosis in the 80ft range before. Does make you wonder how one would react in an emergency scenario at 100ft while on 32%, if we already acknowledge that narcosis has already impaired us....

Thanks for all the responses.

It can be expensive, but I've got my own booster and compressor and easy access to order helium so it makes sense for me. Cave country dive shop also banks 30/30 now making it cheaper.

Lol. Yeah, I use trimix in the rebreather almost exclusively and see different stuff all the time. You need to go to the book room and look at the seep vents on the far side on 30/30.

BTW, Cave Country Dive Shop banks it for $0.25/ft3. Not much more than other places bank nitrox.

Where's the book room? I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about a book room, unless it's in the newer Ginnie sections

Trained for it but I never used it... no reasons to do it in warmish, calm and clear Mediterranean water. I'd like having official access to 25/25 though... it would be much more useful.

I haven't used 30/30 in about a decade - last time I used 30/30 the MOD was still 120' - which got changed to 100' but depending on who you ask that was a clarification not a change...

I switched to 25/25 when I was on OC in the 80-120/130 range as I found it much more versatile and I didn't feel like I was riding the ppO2 edge. If I was diving a known site with a hard floor at ~105' or less I am happy to use 30/30 though. Its just most of my diving was on wrecks and 25/25 gave be some extra wiggle room on the MOD. I consider the 25/25 MOD to be 130' but in an emergency or for a short excursion I would dip to 150'. On 30/30 I consider the MOD 100' but would dip to 120 for a short time (emergency or not).

On CCR I rarely dive less than 35% helium even at recreational depths.

I typically stick to nitrox, but Ginnie, Little River, and Jackson Blue are like different caves on 30/30. Anywhere I know I'm going to be fighting flow and pushing 100', I'll suck it up and pay the tab. It makes that much of a difference for me. This past weekend, I just topped off my doubles with 30/30 from Cave Country's bank. Ended up with 31/16. That was still a night and day difference at Ginnie.
