In should have posted earlier.

I did some other testing, with mine a couple weeks ago. Sent that info to Shearwater, and am waiting on a reply. The guy they want to review it was on vacation last week.

I took it to school and had my soccer players (14-18yo) listen to it. Most of my players could hear it across the room, but a few like me could not hear it. My engineering teacher used and app to check the db level which came in around 62-64 db. Now this is an app on an iPhone not a real tester, so ratings could be skewed.

Just seems odd, I could hear my OCi, Geo2 and Cobalt 2 no problems. Friend is bringing me Petral 2 tomorrow.

For sure your Teric has a problem.

Just ask SW if they'll likely replace or repair. I'm assuming the former. SW were VERY fast to replace my Teric (it suffered an unrelated incident); the same day they received my old one I had a new one on the way. Simply superb customer service.

Mine had an issue out of the gate on my recent Palau trip. I had a new one in my hands five days after my return, and that included a weekend.

As of right now it looks like SW is leaving me out to dry. "Teric is tuned for 70db and there is nothing we can do, we are working to make future models better". Sent a request asking if they can test and verify mine is at 70db.

It's hard for me to relate, since I've never owned a dive computer on which I haven't turned off all the alarms. My Teric is no different--I have no idea how it sounds.

I very much doubt your hearing (and a few of your soccer team) is so unknowingly below normal that you all can't hear it.

For sure SW will say yes to receiving and testing your Teric. Box it up! They are very prompt and you won't be hung out to dry ... if they say it's fine, then you better head into a hearing specialist (the volume and frequency of the Teric's sound means you have a serious issue).

Looking forward to hearing you have a new Teric back (ASAP) that you can hear (and hope you enjoyed the pun). Happy diving with it!

If I was going to ONLY use the TERIC as a DC, I would agree. However, my lifestyle, has other activities, that having an audible alarm is necessary, and I hear my OCi just fine.

Anything is possible. Life as a Marine was not always pleasant on my body. Have the scares and surgeries to prove it.

Just saw this thread, and I've been out of town, but will be back home in Orlando tonight (Saturday, 10/27). I have a Teric; glad to try to find a way to see if the audio is the same. PM me if you like.

I just found this thread. I bought a Teric last month. dove with it in Tahiti two weeks ago and could not hear it either. I reached out to SW and ultimately sent the unit in to them. I just got it back, and the notes on the RO say "beep is audible". This makes me think Im crazy. "Hoping to have a firmware update that will enable the volume to be adjusted to the "beep" and other alarms/alerts, in the near future". i HAVE to have this!

FYI - I started this thread re it too: Teric audible alerts

Recently SW introduced two alert tones. the lower tone is more audible but sometimes I can't hear that. My hearing is not perfect but I can easily hear other divers' computers. So I *think* it's also possibly the positioning of the alarm speaker / the way I wear it along with a bit of volume adjustment needed. A land test of what I can hear underwater easily would probably tell me that answer.

Now, I've just have it on vibrate only (doesn't scare the hammerheads either).

p.s. the Teric in this thread was malfunctioning.

I'm nearly deaf on land without my hearing aids. I can't hear much underwater like tank banging. I turn off all my audible alarms, not only that I cannot hear them, but to spare everyone else from having to listen them.
