I got a backplate and wing.
I do not have a long hose on my primary but just two normal (short) hoses for both regulators.

How should I tuck my octo ?
When I had a jacket BCD I used to just tuck in in the right pocket.

I have some 5mm bungee if that can be used ...

I don't use a wing, but I do have D-rings I make use of. The octo is clipped close to my mouth. The effect is similar to having a necklace, which I suspect is what a lot of BP/W divers use.

You are right, the issue is not really related to BP and W, it is only related to d-rings usage.

So I breathe from my primary and keep the octo under my chin with a necklace ?

I have seen a few pages about how to make a necklace out of bungee, I’ll give a try

you should consider running at least a 36 to 40 inch hose for your primary to make air sharing easier.
In April I’ll have a Fundies class, I’ll switch with a long hose for my primary then.

Out of curiosity shouldn’t I put the longer hose on the octo in the meantime rather than my primary ? I have been taught to give my octo.

if you take fundies, you will be switching to primary donate with necklace backup. might as well start practicing now.
Well they’ll teach me then. I am not comfortable wrapping a hose around myself before having been trained.

Also I read that BSAC may frown upon using a 2m hose as primary if you were not trained for it.
