I was wondering a little about using 2 transmitters on the same computer.

The one I specific was thinking about was the Oceanic OC1 or OCi, but experience about others are welcome.

What i was thinking about was when diving sidemount or independent doubles.

If you have one transmitter per tank, do you need to make a "tank switch" in the computer so you can see the tank pressure, or is it possible to see both at the same time?

If you skip doing those switches, do it still log both tanks? (if using spg for monitoring, but DC for logging gas consumption)

It depends on the computer if it has the capability or not. Some higher end AI computers now have Sidemount AI configuration. How each "hoseless" AI computer handles tracking multiple transmitters, if they have this feature, is different and you will need to consult the manual for that specific model.

Many, probably most, hoseless AI computers can only be "mated" to one transmitter at the time and this has to be done on the surface before the dive. It can't be chanced underwater.

Yes, you can monitor three transmitters on the OC1/OCi, but only see one at a time. The design is for your transmitter, and two Buddy transmitters. The calculations/logging are for yours.

The Perdix AI allows you to see the pressure in two tanks at the same time, with no tank switch necessary.

I don't have any personal experience, but the Ratio allows you to monitor up to 10 tanks at the same time. Obviously not on the screen all at once, but it appears that tank pressure for all tanks is just a click away. In sidemount configuration it'll switch the active display to whichever tank you're breathing from.

What computers have a Sidemount AI config?

My Oceanic Atom 3.0 can be setup for up to 3 transmitters. I think that is normal for Oceanic AI computers. But, it will only show the pressure from 1 transmitter at a time. I believe it does let me switch what transmitter is displayed, while underwater. But, to be honest, I'm not sure how. I regard it as far from ideal for use in sidemount.

My Perdix AI and Teric will both let me display 2 transmitters on the screen at the same time. It is very usable for sidemount, however still not ideal. What Shearwater needs is a Sidemount Mode, in order to display a correct GTR (i.e. one that is based on the gas available in 2 tanks, with an assumption that they are both the same size and gas mix) when diving in sidemount.

If you want an AI computer for diving in sidemount, I would absolutely buy a Perdix AI or Teric over any Oceanic. I like my Teric the best of any computer I have ever used.

The Ratio computers now have this feature, SM mode, the iX3M and the new Watch type. It will sense automatically what tank you are using and will display the pressure of the tank you are using (in addition to other nice features such as GTR based on the two tanks of the same mixture).

You still want to see the pressure of the other tank at a glance so you know when to switch regs. GTR based on both tanks is nice though, I hope Shearwater gets on the sidemount bandwagon soon.

It does, it has it all. But you switch based on the pressure used on the one you are currently using, no? The one that is not being used, you know its pressure since you knew what it was when you switched.

I think his point was a desire to see 2 tank pressures on the screen at the same time. Like you can do with a Shearwater.

It is not clear whether you are saying the Ratio computers can do that or not. "It has it all" would imply that you can, but... ?
