if you had only one evening on GC, where would you eat dinner at and why?

Wow - a tough one. It would probably not be one of the many upscale great-food restaurants on the island. They are fine when looking for a good meal, but we can get that quality of food back home. I would want to eat at one of the places that is somewhat unique to the island - and probably one of the more casual places. So for me it might be Heritage Kitchen - essentially a take-out shack with some outside tables - in West Bay Or maybe Vivene's Kitchen on the east side - same vibe. Or possibly Czech Inn, which is a great compromise between the extremes. Then again, I might want to do a late afternoon snorkel or dive outing at Macabuca followed by an early dinner - especially if it was the Monday night buffet. Then again, I might want lionfish, so would probably head to ViVO, where you also could do a pre dinner dive, and have a great ocean view of the sunset for your last dinner. Then, again I might just go to the dayboat fish market, pick up some fresh fish, grill it at home and sit outside on the beach at eat dinner as the sun sets. Then again,..... well, you get the idea. I think the ultimate answer is just not to leave.

And if you did want to go more upscale, it would be Calypso Grill, where I usually get the wahoo escovitch.

Are you offering to cook for us....lol...there's 4 of us..two from Mass...being from NYC, upscale is not necessary....get too much of that right here...after a week on Brac, we have one night on 7 mile beach...so it's the last supper before we fly home....

Wish I could remember where we had our last meal on our last trip, but it wasn’t all that memorable and ran close to $400 for the four of us....

I have not been there.

I've always thought Cracked Conch looked interesting - dining outside overlooking Turtle Reef. It's the better restaurant across the cove from Macabuca.

Going to rent a car? A cab that far north would be pricey.

We've eaten there a couple of times. It's great, of course, but not where I'd spend my money if my vote counted as much as the boss's.

I agree that the outside deck at Cracked Conch is a great spot. Get there before sunset and enjoy good food in a beautiful setting. You can check the live webcam at the link below and also take a look at their menu. If the prices are a bit too high, then eating outside at Macabuca is another great option. You will need to take a cab to get there from the CS.

Comfort suites....for the one night.

If you don't feel like traveling far, Peppers is about a minute walk across and up the street from Comfort Suites. I really like their foil-roasted mahi or steamed Caribbean style fish of the day. Their jerk is pretty good as well. Coconut Joe's is directly across the street from you. Breakfast is good there. Dinner is OK but nothing special.

If I were on the island for one night and wanted to get the island feel, then I would go with Cracked Conch. You are overlooking the water (the Caribbean, not the North Sound). Food is good, service is good.

If I wanted one great dining experience I would go with Bacaro.

If I wanted fancy and very old-school Caribbean I would go with Grand Old House.
